Rewind to about 2 months ago, my college roommate was getting married & we were taking a little road trip up to BEAUTIFUL Carmel (have you been? It’s so cute!) to celebrate with the happy couple.
When it comes to preparing for trips/events, I am typically on my A game with getting things ready far in advance, but for some reason this one just creeped up on me & two days before the wedding I realized I had absolutely NOTHING to wear.
I scrounged around town, hitting up every boutique in my neighborhood, & had zero luck. The night before we left, I ended up dragging Zack to the mall (p.s. not a big fan of malls) 45 minutes before all the stores closed. It was like supermarket sweep, but for dresses. I was in & out of stores, having the sales ladies rush all of the dresses to my dressing room, & not finding a single thing I liked.
I ended up settling on a dress that I really didn’t even like one bit & then… I didn’t even end up wearing it. Instead I went for one of my back ups, which was a weird long slip dress in forest green that I have had way too long. I didn’t like my look, but I had to go for it.
After seeing the photos, the dress went straight to Goodwill.
NOW- let’s fast forward to a few weeks later & David’s Bridal reached out to collaborate on promoting their wedding guest collection. I checked out the site, & then kicked myself. WHYYYY couldn’t this collab have come a few weeks earlier so I actually had something cool to wear to the wedding.
The thing with wedding guest dresses is you want to look cute, stylish, but not to over-the-top as you do NOT ever want to take any attention away from the bride… but still be true to your style.
SO- let’s just scratch the ugly slip dress & pretend this look is what I wore cause it SO much more ME.
I opted for this black maxi number with a spicy leg slit (love an Angie moment), great back details (love the sparkly straps), & I finished it off with…. my Balenciaga combat style boots.
I know, these boots are not the “typical” vibe for a wedding guest, but since most weddings are on grassy areas & heels just aerate the lawn, I thought boots would be a fun, yet practical, way to accessorize the dress & really make it reflect my personal style.
Also, that whole ‘don’t wear black’ to a wedding thing is just a myth. Black is always a good idea, for any event (unless you’re the bride, black could then be a little depressing- but you do you!) x, E

thanks babe! x
Love this dress! I am getting married in October and have been having a hard time deciding on bridesmaid dresses….I was actually was looking on David’s Bridal’s website yesterday and came across this like wrap dress that you can tie a bunch of different ways to make it look like a different dress, but every bridesmaid still has the same dress. It’s so cool and to be honest, I was not expecting to find something I actually liked at David’s Bridal. But it was a good surprise!
I love that!! I think the bridesmaids dressing differently is always my favorite- yet still cohesive!! David’s Bridal has some great picks!
lovely!!
