Throwing it back to 2001, when I was the queen of the tube top. OH MAN, talk about a total throwback. I clearly remember the last tube top I wore (it was mustard yellow– which was an odd choice cause that’s literally the most horrific color on me), & I was pretty confident that was the last time a tube top would be on my body.
This year, so far, has been really channeling early 2000 vibes, & I am not mad about it. Think dad hats, creeper sneakers, tracksuits, Spice Girls, & yes- TUBE TOPS. I may or may not be too old for a tube top, but I also may or may not care. Age appropriate, shmage appropriate. YOU DO YOU, wear what you want, when you want, how you want.
Just look at Baddie Winkle, she clearly gives zero fucks & is killing it (almost at 2 million followers on Instagram!!). I can only hope to be half as cool & having half as much fun when I am here age. Right?! SLAY girl.
SO… for a modern take on the tube top trend, because the stretchy rainbow one I wore in middle school maybe be a bit too much (or it may not be? Now that I think about, it could actually be super cute for summer with some high waisted flared jeans + a rad choker??), I opted for this long layered co-ord set that I am so so so into right now.
Clearly the color choice is right up my alley, but what really got me was the silhouette. I am always down for a good flare situation (so slimming for the legs) & I also love how structured the fabric of. It’s thick, so even though I am wearing a tube top, no bra is needed (praise, I hate bras!).
What do you guys think, would you be down to resurrect the tube top or nah? LMK & shop the look + some more of my tube top faves below!! x, E
