It’s my first Monday back from vacay, & to say I am struggling would be an understatement.
The past three days have consisted of sitting on the couch, binge watching The Killing (best show ever), & taking naps on naps on naps. I would love to say it’s all because of jetlag, but that’s really only half of it, I have a serious case of the post-vacay blues.
Does this ever happen to you guys? I literally feel homesick.
When you’re on vacation you are doing things everyday & constantly on the go, now that I am home, I am scared I am going to get stagnant. I don’t want to fall back into my daily routine. I want to go on more adventures, I want to be more active, I want to see things I’ve never seen, basically… I just want to be on vacation everyday of my life.
Now that I am home, it is my goal to do more fun things, take more trips (even if they’re small), & live in the moment. In the meantime though, I am easing my blues by looking/sharing pictures from my amazing trip to the most amazing city in the world– Copenhagen. Enjoy & if you have any ideas for day trips/different things to do near San Diego- let me know!

the most amazing gourmet ice cream pops from Olufs. When we got our pistachio & hazelnut pops, the store owner told us to eat quick because there are no preservatives to keep them from melting. LOVE that!
from left to right: my favorite building | the rooftop view from Sticks n’ Sushi (aka the most amazing restaurant recommended by a reader!) | feeding the pretty swans on the river | “psst… great things never come from comfort zones…” TRUTH!
Last year in Copenhagen we rented bikes & the second I got on mine, I freaked out & we had to return the bikes. This ended up in a 7 mile walk around the city. Zack understood, but he wasn’t super stoked on it. So I promised him that this year I would get on a bike.
I know how to ride a bike & rode one all through college, but in Copenhagen everyone is super serious about biking, so it was just super intimidating. Three days before we left, I finally worked up the courage & we rented bikes for the day. It was SO much fun & definitely the right way to navigate the city… so bummed we didn’t do it sooner. Next year– bikes the entire trip!
Photo bombing ;)
Obsessed w/ this shoe display at & Other Stories! Such a beautiful store.
The most beautiful blogger/press brunch for the grand opening of The Jewellery Room (stay tuned, doing a full post on Danish jewelry soon- it’s so amazing!).
Awesome. So much to see and do. Miss taking roadtrips. Jumping in van and feeling free. For next adventure. Call me I’m ready in 5 mins. Lol. ????
Absolutely! x
YESS!!! That happened to me sooo hardcore when I got back from vacationing Arizona this past January. We stayed at my boyfriend’s dad’s house and he had the nicest hot tub, and the weather was in the upper 60’s and low 70’s in Phoenix/Scottsdale area, while where I live (Baltimore/DC area) it was snowing and in the 30-40s.
We were also constantly going places while on vacation and we visited Sedona and the Grand Canyon… ugh, coming home was just a total bummer. It was at its worst the first two weeks back at work…
the only bright side is that it passed… eventually.
Ughh, it def. doesn’t feel like it will ever pass :( I am so bummed out!
I know the feeling well! I dealt with bad post-vacation depression (totally a legit thing!) after I got back to the states from Tokyo. It was one of those places I felt immediately at home, and I got into my own routine there, that was unlike anything I could ever do here- so hard to explain, but I know you get it. Even little things there, to this day I miss – like the convenience stores (seriously amazing), the vending machines, and especially the people. I miss it so much to this day and already dreaming of when I get to go back next. I also totally understand about the bikes!! There is something so intimidating about it, despite knowing how to do it, so this totally inspires me to just suck it up and get over it!
I love, love, love the monochromatic look on both you and in Copenhagen. Those minimal vibes sure are something else, from the fonts (love that sign – so true), to the outfits, to the architecture. All of your outfits were amazing and you two look great – and THAT POPSICLE STORE!! That looks like it is worth the trip alone.I totally thought that picture of the shoe display were yours! They are right on point to your style. Anyways, good luck getting back at it – baby steps! But, the best part about being home is being reunited with your sweet pets! That alone helps me so much whenever I am dealing with feeling homesick from a vacation.
I don’t know if this is too far for you here in California, but if you want some nice R&R and an amazing getaway, go to Jenner here in Northern California. It is about 60 miles from San Francisco right outside of Sebastopol. It is where the Russian River and Pacific Ocean merge and it is the most adorable little sea-side town, with a cute winery called Fort Ross, and it is pretty inexpensive! Fair warning though, there is no phone service there (some hotels boast this ie: River’s End – but that was a little too much for me so we only did it for one night, and then did one with internet for the rest of our time – Timber Cove Inn, cannot recommend it enough – bocce on the ocean!), but it is seriously the most adorable town ever with whale watching, and incredible food & wine, and the cutest organic cafe ever called Cafe Aquatica. We already cannot wait to get back there. Absolutely worth a check out if you can make it up north. If you do go, stop by Osmosis Day Spa in Sebastopol (it is on the way there) and do a Japanese Enzyme Bath together. Probably one of the most interesting things I made my boyfriend do with me. ;) https://www.osmosis.com/cedar-enzyme-bath/
Sorry for the novel! It looked so much shorter as I typed it in this comment box ? – but seriously, you would LOVE Jenner!
No problem at all! I loved every word :) x
Ahh, I am so glad someone gets it! I am in SUCH a funk right now. It is absolutely amazing in Copenhagen, definitely worth the trip. Counting down the days till I get to go back, hopefully next year! It definitely helps being back with my Bitzy girl, I missed her so much. I am looking up Jenner as we speak, it sounds amazing & that Osmosis spa seems pretty next level. Right up my alley! Thank you so much for the kind words & recommendations! x
Those ice cream pops look like an absolute dream. Copenhagen is a place that’s been on my bucket list for a really long time, so I love all your photos! Short trips sound fun as well — just because time is short doesn’t mean one shouldn’t vacation!
