Last week Zack & I played total hooky and went on a mid-week daycation.
Being that we are both kinda workaholics, this is not normally something we’d do…. but we were in dire need of a little break from the hustle & bustle of daily life/work/family being in town/etc. IDK about you guys, but when I get too stressed or overwhelmed, I literally cannot muster up any creativity OR productivity. One night off (with wine!) hits that reset button & gives me the refresher I need.
So, for our day-cay, we headed to the Welk Resort in San Diego to enjoy a night in their amazing villa & a special “dinner under the stars”.
The dinner under the stars was seriously next level. We were seated outdoors, right next to the vineyard, & the entire set-up was just one good Insta-pic after another.
There were string lights above us (aka, the stars), fresh flowers everywhere, a vintage-inspired outdoor living room set-up complete w/ an old school television set, & the most gorg place settings of all time (total future wedding inspo- LOL!).
Then came the food… & the booze.
It was a 6 course meal, & with each yummy plate they brought out, a perfectly paired beverage came with– either a type of beer from Iron Fist Brewing Company or champs/wine from the Belle Marie Winery.
The highlights of the meal itself was definitely the lobster, the lemoncello intermezzo to cleanse the palate (très chic), & the three mini desserts (aka the best part of every meal!).
While dining, Zack & I made two new friends– fellow blogger Brittany & her husband, Anthony. It was so fun and refreshing to talk to a couple that basically does the same thing we do… she blogs, he shoots the pics, & together they build the brand.
Let’s just say, we had a lot of LOL stories that only a blogger couple would understand (#bloggercoupleproblems??).
Once the four of us were the last ones standing, we ended the night by heading back to our amazing little villas, which was actually the highlight of the entire trip for one reason…
There was a bathtub!!!!
If you know me, you know I live & die for a hot bath. Sadly, my current place is lacking a bathtub (the walk in closet made up for it though), so whenever there is a bath in sight… I’m all up in it. Literally.
I turned on my most mellow Spotify playlist, poured a glass of champagne, kicked up my feet, & sat in the hottest most bubbliest bath known to man until I was full blown prune status. Bliss x 100000.
The following day, before checkout, we roamed the grounds of the resort for a bit to check out all it had to offer.
If you’ve seen the movie Dirty Dancing, this place kinda reminds me of the resort they stayed in. There are literally SO many activities!
You can play golf, go fishing, hit up the spa, take the kids to the waterslide, play pool, make a legit commercial in their production studio (Zack thought this was VERY cool!), & sooo much more. It’s one of those places that you won’t want or need to leave for your entire stay.
If you’re ever in SD, I highly suggest checking it out :).

Yes a jewel. People assume its old folks place. Love it.
Definitely not an old folks place :) xo
