The straight hair struggle is really real.
Curly haired sisters, ya feel?
I really wish I could be one of those ladies who embraces the curl, but sadly I don’t have THAT kind of curl (ya know, those boingy beauties you see on a Pantene commercial?). When I was a baby, my Shirley Temple curls turns heads, but through the years my curls have transformed into more of a rats nest.
Turning heads in a whole different way. Not a good look, trust.
Typically my routine involves shampoo, condition, heat protectant, blow dry for 2 hours (seriously, takes forever!!), straighten, more product (some sort of serum), blow dry some more, straighten again, & then comes the smoothing products to help with my now fried tresses.
The second I sleep on it our step outside, boom… what up frizz, goodbye wasted half of my day.
Recently though, that has allll changed & I finally have the hair I have always dreamed of. Nothing short of a miracle, & here’s why/how::
First, the invention of the L’Oreal Ultimate Straight hair care line.
[ Sidebar: this is not sponsored by L’Oreal in the least. This post is the 100% real deal holy field. ]
I saw these products on a commercial, & since I don’t believe a word any commercial ever says (who does?), I did my own research. It was one great review after another, so I got on Amazon & placed my order.
When they arrived in the mail, I couldn’t have hopped in the shower quicker. I used the L’Oreal Ultimate Straight Shampoo & Conditioner & finished things off with the L’Oreal Smooth Intense Xtreme Straight Creme. First time, huge success. My hair was instantly smoother, dry time was instantly faster, & I was instantly impressed.
I still needed my handy flat iron, but only for a few random kinks, which is worlds different/faster than my typical one-inch-by-one-inch straightening sesh.
The only downside, it’s not sulfate-free. Typically this would turn me off BIG time, but I am so desperate to control my curls & this works, so what’s a girl to do? L’Oreal, if you’re reading, make this product sulfate free please!
WHY it works: the killer combo of keratin (the smooth hair protein) + tourmaline (works with heat to lock in the straightness).
» meet Sean! He’s the coolest. «
NOW, for the reallll straight hair hook line & sinker.
This is way more tech than a couple of products, but a total game-changer nonetheless.
Enter Cezanne, a Keratin smoothing treatment that is formaldehyde-free (cause that shit should NEVER touch your head), safe, & so mind blowing effective.
There are tons of Keratin treatments on the market, but what makes Cezanne the best is this nifty little ingredient called Sericin. Sericin is produced by the silk worm & rather than sitting on top of the hair like most of these Keratin treatments, it wraps around and penetrates every single strand.
My hair guy Sean (love him!) knows & truley cares about my unruly hair, so he held off doing it on me till he saw it for himself. Once he did, he was blown away & we booked an appointment stat. It’s about a three hour session, but it also lasts three months… so I’d say it’s def. worth every second.
My only suggestions to you are:
1. DO IT! It’s amazing.
2. Book extra time to get your hair colored after because it does pull some color from your hair.
3. Bring a book or your iPad to help kill time!
K, that’s all she wrote! If you guys have ANY straight hair tips. LMK, always on the hun!

P.P.S If you live in the San Diego area, book your Cezanne treatment at Headlines in Encinitas. The salon is amazing & their prices for this treatment are the best in town.
This post made me giggle. My boyfriend’s family has super curly hair (he keeps his short though) so I always joke about how if we had a kid and she was a girl she’d be screwed since I wouldn’t know what to do with her hair. I always feel like girls with curly hair have beautiful locks when they’re younger and then when they get to like late elementary school / middle school it becomes a wavey, curly, friz ball, and it takes until high school or college to really find the right products and routine to embrace the natural curls. Yours looks gorgeous straight though, as I’m sure it does curly! I also really love the color, is it your natural color?
p.s. – It’s nice to see a picture of your face not hidden behind sunglasses!!
Thanks love :) You’re so sweet! The color isn’t natural, but it’s close as I am hoping to one day be able to grow alll my hair our so that it’s back to it’s natural. It’s gonna take me forever.
