You Can’t Believe it’s not Ice Cream

BANANA-SORBET

For not being a “cooking” person, it’s pretty absurd the amount of cooking blogs I follow… especially the gluten-free ones.  I like to see the food they make, and I always thing “well, that would be nice, if I could cook”. Sorry… but things like Xantham gum just scare me. Plus, who really has time to start at a stovetop?

Every once in a while, my favorite food bloggers will come up with a recipe that’s pretty much fool-proof. Those are the ones I will give a try. My latest & greatest creation was something I was inspired to make after finding this recipe on theKitchn (the Apartment Therapy of food) for to-die-for banana ice cream!

best part is, it’s only one ingredient: bananas (unless you decide to get weird and throw some other stuff in). It’s so much better for you than the sugar filled tubs in your freezer, and you seriously can’t taste the difference. This banana ice cream is actually creamier, kind of like sorbet, and you can customize it to emulate your fave flave.

Read on to see how to whip up this yummy treat, & happily say farewell to Ben & Jerry’s.

Ingredients:
+ ripe bananas, three will feed about 1 person.
+ add ons of your liking. I chose organic berries and the Trader Joes version of Nutella (<— the best!).

How to Make:
+ peel three ripened bananas, slice them up, and throw them in the freezer.
+ when frozen, blend them, preferably in a food processor.
+ mix in your special ingredients.
+ serve it up and get ready to die over this treat.
