Ahhhh— good ole’ Valentine’s Day!!!
Here’s how it typically goes: either you’re single & you wallow in your single sorrows w/ your girlfriends while watching the movie “Valentine’s Day” or you put unrealistic expectations on your significant other to pull out every romantic card in the deck (& when they don’t come through, they are naturally in the dog house).
Am I right or am I right?
Don’t get me wrong, I like Valentine’s Day… but I am just not one of those girls who is obsessed w/ it like it’s the end all be all. My thoughts on Valentine’s Day is this- whether single or taken, spend it w/ someone you love, exchange a cute lil’ DIY gift or something thoughtful (diamonds shmiamonds- save that for an anniversary or birthday), & do something different & cool (i.e. take a hike or a fun daycation).
… to each their own, this is just my take on the “holiday”.
Now for the good stuff. Valentine’s Day fashion—
Let’s just avoid that cliché all together please (I beg).
I am so so so so over skin tight/ Herve Leger type dresses/ showing too much leg or cleavage/ in either red or pink/ with sky high stilettos. Predictable much? It’s Valentine’s Day people… not Vegas.
Personally, I am really into mixing & matching girly pieces (a mini fit & flare dress) w/ some more “tomboy-ish” pieces (a graphic sweatshirt), & a little sexy (knee high boots).
& since it’s not a funeral, color is totally okay. Currently, I am really feeling anything & everything maroon/burgundy. It’s in the “red” family, so it’s great for the occasion, yet way more edgy & cool.
Mix it up people!! Think outside the heart shaped box ;).
xx yours truly, E
