This & That | The Blues

When I was little, I would ALWAYS get the Sunday Blues really bad. I would be grumpy, I would cry alllll day, & I would get severe anxiety (read more on that here). It was honestly the worst feeling in the world, & every so often, it comes back with a vengeance.

Yesterday was one of those days (x 100000).

It’s hard to explain the Sunday Blues unless you’ve had it, but I swear, it’s symptoms should be listed on WebMD. The best way I can explain it is to give you a rundown of the hot mess that was yesterday.

I actually woke up in a really good mood, annoying Zack while he worked at his desk & singing loudly through the house replacing the words of songs with BITZY (i.e. “BITZY on fleek”) while I got ready for breakfast. It was a grey day, which is my favorite weather, so I was feeling good. Then, we went to get breakfast at this yummy new spot near our house.

Our next stop on the agenda was Ikea to get a new couch, & on the drive there, I started to get depressed/tired/grumpy AF.

I literally dragged my feet through Ikea, threatening to Zack that I was about to get in the Ikea beds & take a nap. Poor Zack, he might as well have been hanging out with a toddler in the throws of their terrible twos. I was pissy.

We got the couch, played adult Tetris fitting it in the car, & slowly drove home w/ a couch tied to the roof. At this point, I am now 100% useless. I couldn’t help carry the couch into the house, I kept needing hugs (is this embarrassing?), & crocodile tears were flowing. Once the couch boxes were in the house, I fell asleep. When I woke up from my nap, the couch was built, & I completely lost my marbles.

I didn’t THINK I liked the couch, when really I just wasn’t used to not seeing my old couch. I thought the L needed to be on the other side, the mounted TV was no longer in the right spot, I didn’t want black leather anymore, & I demanded we take it apart and take it back. WTF IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW? Poor Zack, just built this huge ass couch in one hour, & I am freaking the eff out having a full blown tantrum. As he should have at this point, he went to his friends to give me time to breathe & reflect on my crazy.

I ended up texting him sorry, & he came home with a million hugs and a legit pep talk. Honestly, I was feeling really stressed about all I have to do this week and he knows that sometimes I just need to talk out the weeks plan. We did, & I felt better, although still semi-pathetic/whiny.

We decided to go to the grocery story to get my favorite sea salt pumpkin dark chocolate caramels from Trader Joes (they can solve any/all problems) and spent the rest of the night re-watching episodes of AHS Hotel (this season is so effing creepy/rad!!).

I know, this whole story makes me look like the biggest BRAT in the entire universe, but I know someone somewhere can relate to the nightmare that is the Sunday Blues. It’s real, it’s gnarly, & it can really turn you into someone you’re not. Have you guys had the Sunday Blues or am I totally solo in this crazy? Please, LMK, cause I’m starting to feel like I just overshared in a big way. HA! x, E

[ P.S. I’m obsessed w/ our new couch & Zack is the best human ever!]

» currently putting LIVE sauerkraut on just about everything (eggs, salads, sandwiches, etc.) | the fermentation process that preserves sauerkraut makes it a great probiotic which helps to replenish the good bacteria in your gut (you need this!). It also aids in weight loss, is a great source of vitamin C, & has cancer fighting properties. Plus, IMO, it’s delish. «
