This & That | Beating the Heat

white bed

My house is officially a sweat lodge. It’s hot, it’s humid, and it’s AC-less. Shoot me.

The past couple days has pretty much consisted of trying to get work done while surviving the heat in the upstairs living room (with the help of three full blast fans), or retreating to my comfy & cooler room downstairs- in which I will most likely doze off to Law & Order SVU and get nothing done at all. Problems.

Oh… and do you know how much I love spending fifteen minutes getting my hair straight, to just have a full blown fro the second I leave the house? My idea of a good time for sure.

On a brighter note, I did receive some lovely little packages at my door over the grey/foggy/sticky/gross weekend, which def. helped distract me from the near heat stroke taking over my bod.

Ch-ch-check out the goods:

ellovi butter
+ Ellovi Butter is my skin’s new bestest. Why is this stuff so epic? Well… it’s all pure & natural (no parabens/chemicals/scents/nada), it’s made sans water- so it’s way more hydrating than other stuff, helps fade wrinkles, contains yummy stuff like macadamia nut/ coconut/ hemp seed/ & shea. Oh, and even the jar is eco-friendly. +

cut out buckle booties
+ These cut-out buckle wedges are seriously making me feen for Fall big time. I am envisioning tights/oversized chunky sweater/cute beanie combo. All though, they will probably have to be worn sooner than that. +

antique turquoise rings
+ Even if the last thing on earth I need is another ring… these were too good to pass on (similar turquoise ring found here & sterling knuckle ring found here).  +

julep cleansing oil
+ Last, but CERTAINLY, not least. This Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil may very well be the best thing to come to my beauty routine since the good ole’ pink & green Maybelline mascara. Want to know why this stuff is liquid gold? K…

+ Triple threat ingredients: Rosehip Oil has loads of vitamin A&C which helps to get rid of wrinkles and acne scars. Malvaceae Lipid Extract- a powerhouse that helps to rebuild skin structure & provide long lasting moisture. Green Coffee Bean Oil is a natural anti-inflammatory that helps to promote cell turnover.

+ Oh, it also contains Grapeseed Oil, an awesome antioxidant that helps to protect your skin from rude free radicals & Olive Oil, a natural source of Vitamin E that helps to soften your skin & prevent dehydration.

+ It’s NOT oily. You’d think- oil would make your skin oily after washing it off. Nope, it feels totally hydrating and oily (in a great way), but rinses off completely.

+ It’s also okay for OILY skin types. Newsflash- products made for oily skin actually make your skin oilier, as the drying ingredients of these items make your skin want to over-produce oil to compensate. Oil will actually get rid of excess oil. Crazy, right?

+ It’s the master of make-up removal. No joke. I used to use coconut oil, and it worked, but left me greasy and not completely mascara free (raccoon eyes- not cute). This stuff has done the impossible, it leaves my face clean/fresh/and 100% make-up free… even tackling waterproof stuff too.

xx, E
