The Cutest Little DIY in Town

DSC05701

I am sad… my DIY partner in crime, Katie (blogger at Kikadoo), moved away to SF :'(.

Her departure is pretty much the main reason I haven’t really done any projects lately. We’d constantly be bouncing ideas off of each others, and craft days while watching Rachel Zoe marathons were a regular occasion. Now that she’s not around, I haven’t been feeling super creative.

Last week Katie came up with the genius idea to continue our tradition long distance style. She started a secret Pinterest board to share our do-it-yourself inspo, in which we would do one “together” atleast once a month. So, let the Kikadoo X Fashionlush DIY collab series begin, starting with the cutest little animal dishes ever

P.S. I know it’s a bummer that our shared Pinterest board is a secret (sorry!), but you can check out some other great DIY ideas here

+ Supplies: quick dry paint pens in metallics (Painters works great), some cute plastic animals of your liking, porcelain Creme Brulee dishes work great, and some strong super glue. +

steps

+ Step 1: using your paint pen, color your animals. Do it like you do nail polish, letting each coat dry before you continue on. Tip: Don’t press down to hard or it will take off the first layer of paint.

+ Step 2: Prep your dishes. I have a shaky hand and am no artist, so I used painters tape the lid of can to create my designs. Get weird with polka dots/chevron/circles/stripes/whatevs.

+ Step 3: color your dishes with your paint pen, again painting like you do your nails. Let dry & glue on your animals.
