Ever since the whole “basic bae” thing got popular, I feel like the word basic is getting a bad rap.
Really though, totally curious, what does calling someone “basic” even mean? Supposedly it’s meant to be an insult, but I actually think it’s kinda cool, & it’s also how I describe my current fashion mood.
Lately I have been allllll about the basics. Personally, when I start to overdo the closet with crazy colors/busy prints/strange silhouettes, getting dressed becomes way more stressful. Sure, it’s fun to color outside the lines once in a while, but having a closet full of solid basics just makes life so much easier.
My personal basics of choice include an epic pair of black skinnies (these are my go-to’s, super into showing some ankle), one pair of jeans with ripped knees (just got these, so obsessed), an oversized white blouse (or 3 & a few in black), & a solid collection of flats.
Fill your closet with more stuff like that & I promise you, you will be spending a whole lot less time fussing around in the closet, trying on 30 different outfits (in an attempt to make that crazy geometric skirt to work w/ something), & freaking out over what shoes go with what.
The getting dressed struggle is real, so do yourself a favor and harness your inner “basic bae”. K?
