Okay, okay, okayyyy… really excited about today’s post because what I am about to share is a SERIOUS skincare savior.

Rewind about a month ago, a friend of mine reached out to throw around a new business venture. Basically, a family member of hers went to (I believe) Fiji & came back with this native oil called Tamanu Oil. The family member tried & loved it, so a bottle was brought back to her.

After a few weeks of using it, she realized it’s super legit & decided to open up a really rad online store- the Tamanu Oil Lab.

It’s called ‘the Oil Lab’ because you can customize an oil based on your needs, which is SO fun. First you check out the organic essential oils & botanical oils (I love rose-hip seed!!), pick your favorites, & then you choose the ‘Inspire blend‘ where you will have the ability to add as many oils as you like.

COOL, right?

& if customization isn’t your thing, she also has pre-made concoctions & pure Tamanu Oil.

ANYWAYS, you’re probably wondering WTF Tamanu Oil is, why you’ve never heard of it, & why it’s my new go-to skin oil…

First, an abridged history lesson.

Tamanu oil was first discovered thousands of year ago in Tahiti. Someone (unsure who) found a tree whose nuts, when dried, produced this oil. They used the oil to protect their skin from the weather conditions. Once it spread & people realized how amazing this stuff was, the studies came rolling in & the benefits only grew & grew.

Why haven’t you heard of it though? I ASKED THE SAME THING. I pretty much collect every skin oil known to man, so this unknown one was a real shocker to me. The reason is, it’s extremely rare. The area these trees grow in is tiny, it takes the fruit of one entire Tamanu tree to make a mere 11 pounds of the oil, & it takes TWO months for the seed to dry out. So yea, slim pickens.

Now, what to expect (spoiler alert: it’s magical):

» It’s has antibacterial properties & heals cuts quickly by promotion the growth of health cells. The Xanthone compounds reduce swelling & the Canophyllol/Canophyllic acid are comparable to an anti-biotic. I personally am a major picker, & I swear my little picks heal 100x quicker when I use this oil.

» The anti-inflammatory properties work wonders for healing eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, hyper-pigmentation & bad acne.

» It protects your skin from the sun (UV damage) & free radicals, plus it soothes sunburns.

» Tamanu oil can penetrate the three upper layers of the dermis, so it uses all it’s regenerating powers to help fight/prevent wrinkles.

» It’s also an insane hot oil hair treatment/serum. I always put a little in my towel dried hair.

» Lastly, adding in essential & botanical oils pack a ton of extra benefits for body & mind.

My personal picks were Radiant (Rosehip Seed + Ylang Ylang), Calm (Rosehip Seed + Lavender), & my custom Inspire blend (Lemon + Tea Tree).

I mix it up my potions depending on my mood & I am in love with all three. I use it every night after I was my face & within three days my skin started to kind slough off, like a peel. It may sound gross, but it wasn’t, It was just dead skin making it’s way off my face.

Also, Zack has even noticed I look so much brighter in the morning & have even been semi-okay leaving the house w/o face makeup (which I haven’t done in years).

So anyways check it out here & if you try it, which you should, LMK your thoughts/results! Use the coupon code FASHIONLUSH at checkout for a little surprise discount ;).

x, E

P.S. This post was 100% not sponsored. It’s may be a friends product, but just so you know, I don’t care if you’re my sister (sorry sister)– if I don’t love it, I don’t blog it.
