BUY A HOUSE THEY SAID, IT’LL BE FUN THEY SAID….

When people ask me “how’s the house?” I say “it’s a lot” & they respond “yes- but it’s a good kind of overwhelming”. I AM GONNA SAY NO TO THAT ONE. Yes, we are working towards a goal & I keep trying to envision the end line, but when there is a thousand massive things that need to be done, the end line gets blurry … or maybe that was just all the tears clouding my vision? Either way, it doesn’t feel like a good kind of stress.

What really pushed me over the edge was the damn FLOORS. Let me paint a picture…. we have two rooms with carpet (my worst nightmare) & a grey faux wood flooring throughout the rest of the house is just not my vibe. THE MAJOR ISSUE HERE IS MY CLOSET. Do you guys remember my pride & joy massive closet?! That thing is extremely heavy & it is just a terrible idea to move it out of the garage where it’s being stored & into the currently carpeted room that is intended to be my closet room/office situation just so we can move it out again to do the floors. Therefore, I don’t have organized access to my clothes which is making me nuts & the closet is taking up so much room all over our house (the drawers alone fill the floor of our entire guest room).

I NEED THE FLOORS SO I CAN SET UP MY CLOSET. ASAP. LIKE YESTERDAY.

When it comes to floors, I am pretty specific about what I want. Originally I was set on concrete, but we are on a raised foundation, which makes that is out of the question. After tons of pinning, I decided a super BRIGHT & minimal white oak look would look amazing in our place. Turns out, that’s not very easy to find in our price range. Two weeks ago I dragged my future mother in law to Home Depot just to see if, by chance, they had anything we loved… & to my surprise, they did! I found the perfect engineered white oak with minimal markings, super super light, rad extra wide planks, & A GOOD PRICE.

I ordered them that night online, paid a ton for shipping, made an appointment for install, & waited daily for my floors to arrive…

When the truck pulled up a week later, I immediately ripped open the box, laid it out, & absolutely lost my shit. They looked NOTHING like the sample. They were a weird pink tone with multiple markings. It was very “rustic” looking, which was the exact opposite I wanted. That night we loaded about 1000lbs of flooring into Zack’s car, dragged the car to Home Depot (literally it was touching the ground), & returned it all.

We are now back to square one on the flooring situation & back to feeling like there is no end in sight. Without the floors, I refuse to do anything else. I can’t envision decor, lighting, placement, furniture, colors, ANYTHING until my floors are done. It’ painful & since I can’t physically start on the house, I’ve done it virtually… THX U PINTEREST.

SO- I figured it would be fun to share with you guys what I’ve been pinning so you can see the vibe I am going for & maybe get some inspo for yourself. Let’s break it down by my fave boards (but you can check them all out here).
