I seriously can’t believe that it’s been 5 full years since I decided to start this blog. It feels like just yesterday that I was sitting in my college bed & the lightbulb went off. The very lightbulb that truly changed my life.
Something that just started off as a hobby has now become my passion/ my creative outlet/ & pretty much my world. I couldn’t love it more.
Fashionlush has opened so many doors for me, & I am forever grateful. I have gotten to pick the brains of some awesome fashionistas/models/singers/designers/etc. (check some of my epic Fashionlush spotlights), work with some really amazing brands, meet so many people all over the world, & it gave me the courage/confidence to start my own company.
It has also taught me some of my most invaluable life lessons that will forever stick with me, such as:
+ Quitting is for quitters. Sure- after 2 years of getting twenty hits a day, I could’ve thrown in the towel. I didn’t. I pushed on, & now I have such an amazing following as well as so many supporters.
+ Hard work pays off. Contrary to popular belief, this whole blogging thing isn’t easy. It’s endless amounts of work- literally, it never stops. For a while I was working a full time office job, & when five o’clock hit, I would go home to work more on Fashionlush. That hard work made it so that I could eventually leave that full time job, & pursue my dreams with full force.
+ Patience is a virtue. Always was told this, but never understood it fully until I started blogging. Truth- you won’t get a thousand followers right off the bat & advertisers won’t be hitting you up day 1. Be consistent, keep blogging, & be patient. You will reap the rewards.
+ Be passionate about what you’re doing… all day everyday. What they say is true- if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life. I can officially say, I will never work a day in my life because I am obsessed with what I do. If you start something & you’re not passionate about it, don’t do it. Easy as that.
+ Don’t compare yourself to others. The world of blogging is a competitive one & the worst thing you can do is start comparing yourself to other bloggers. Why don’t I get as many hits as that person? Maybe if my posts are more like their’s I will do better? This negativity will get you nowhere but feeling bad. If you’ve given something all you’ve got, you have already succeeded.
I could go on & on about how great Fashionlush has been to me…. but honestly, I think that’s enough gushy-ness for today.
I do need to give a HUGE thanks to my friends & family for their constant support, my boyfriend for being most patient photog ever, & most importantly- YOU all. It’s you guys who keep me inspired & put a smile on my face everyday. Thank you x a mil.
HBD Fashionlush, here’s to another 5 fab years, & yes- I will be having a well deserved glass of champs tonight.
xx, E
