My BIG goal for 2018 was to READ MORE. I have always loved reading, but when time is short, it’s the first thing to go (sadly).
To make time for reading, I actually have a weird little time saving hack- I buy the eBook along with an audio version. When I am home I read the eBook & in the car I pick up where I left with the audio version. Having to buy two books at the same time is a pricey time saving hack, BUT it helps me get through my LONG book list efficiently, so I am okay with it.
I also have my books on my phone, so if I am at the nail salon, I can read. Always reading, any chance I can get.
I have already gotten through more books in 2018 so far than I did in all of 2017, so I’d say my strange reading routine is working for me & I the books I have read this year have been KILLER… literally, I love a good creepy/true crime/thriller book.
SO, I thought it’d be fun to invite you guys to join the virtual Fashionlush Book Club! I have always wanted to be in a book club, so what better way to do it? Obviously we can’t all read together- but this list will get you started & I’d love to hear your thoughts if you read any of them (or already have??!)
ALSO- I am ALWAYS looking for good book recs, so plz SHARE!! xo, E

i. Good Me, Bad Me by Ali Lands
this is my current read, & so far, SO GOOD. I can’t tell you much cause I don’t want to give it away. But it’s a REAL PAGE TURNER. I found it on the best seller page on iTunes, which is where I find most of my books, & have been telling everyone to read it!
I can barely write about it, because it’s making me want to ditch Monday, get in bed, & read all day long.
It’s a creepy/killer Mom situation that will have you….. SHOOK?
ii. Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty
If you liked Big Little Lies (show or book), you will LOVE this book. It’s the same author, & REALLY GOOD. I am hoping they turn it into a show too, because the whole time I was envisioning the two main characters as Reese Witherspoon & Nicole Kidman.
& if you don’t even know what Big Little Lies is- I HIGHLY suggest watching the show they made off the book. Patiently waiting for a season two! Usually I’d say read the book first, but I think the show nailed it perfectly.
iii. The Girl with Seven Names by Hyeonseo Lee
This typically isn’t the style of books I go for. As you can see, fiction thrillers all the way– but the glowing 5 star reviews across the board had me interested. People RAVED about this book, & the people were right. This is a true story about Hyeonseo Lee’s escape from North Korea. Not only does she escape, but she GOES BACK to get her Mom & escapes successfully again.
It’s powerful, it’s eye opening, & you won’t want to put it down. I am always so interested in other cultures, & this woman’s strength is next level inspirational. READ READ READ IT!!!
iv. The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison
HOLY SHIT. I have never in my life been scared of a book, but this book quite literally scared the shit out of me. In a good way. I read it in two days & stayed up VERY LATE reading this bad boy.
I actually found it by googling “books like Gone Girl” & this was the first thing that popped off. IF GONE GIRL WAS YOUR VIBE, you’re gonna freak out over this book. It’s like Gone Girl on steroids.
v. Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule
I had a friend come over this weekend & this book was peeking out of her bag, so I grabbed it & read the back cover. As I said before, I do typically go for fiction, but I am never not down for a creepy non-fiction story.
It’s all about Ted Bundy, seen through the eyes of a friend & coworker who had no idea he was a serial killer, yet she still talked with him post conviction to write this book. It was written in 1980. So it’s an older book, but with the Ted Bundy movie coming out (Zac Efron playing Ted Bundy?!?!) it’s the perfect time to read this one. It’s definitely next in line on my reading list!
