5 Next Level Face Masks on Repeat (for acne prone skin)

face masks for acne, fashionlush, hormonal acne

HORMONAL ACNE. If you know, you know… it’s the fucking worst. Not only because being a 30 year old with acne is awkward (I do get carded a lot), it is also painful & just a really stubborn kind of acne. It shows up a long the jawline, so basically I have a 5 o’clock shade of acne. Chill…

Over the past few months I have been getting consistent facials & using a few amazing new products (mainly this cbd facial oil) that have got the acne under control. Once I was almost acne free, I became super neurotic about putting anything on my face other than the products I knew wouldn’t break me out.

THAT SAID- I love a good face mask & couldn’t give them up. I asked around for everyones fave face mask & ended up with 5 REALLY amazing masks. Each one has a different job & honestly- some of the most effective face masks I have ever used (I need instant gratification in a face mask).

MY TOP 5 GO TO FACE MASKS FOR ACNE

1. Cosmedix Bio-Shape Firming Face Mask

Okay- this was recommended to me by a facialist friend & owner of Glow Skincare LA. Some of my favorite products I have gotten from her- so when she said this was THE BEST FACE MASK & it won’t make break out (she knows all about my struggle)… I believe her 10x over.

She was right. This is a STELLAR face mask. She told me to leave it on over night & I will wake up and fully notice a difference in my skin. I did just that & woke up with some PLUMP looking skin. It looked the way my skin looks with fresh botox. I can’t really describe the look, but if you’ve had botox, you know. It’s smooth & LIFTED. Botox in a bottle. 100%.

2. Lerosett Acne Mask

This one I first saw on The Skinny Confidential. Lauryn was raving about this mask & typically I buy whatever Lauryn says is great but for some reason I didn’t run to get this mask immediately. It wasn’t until I actually went to the place Lauryn gets her brows done at that I bought the mask. They had on the counter at checkout & also were raving about it ESPECIALLY for acne… so obviously I snagged it.

I have been using this mask at least twice a week, sometimes as a fully face mask & other times as a spot treatment. It’s a Swedish clay mask, but the clay is special because it is treated natural clay that actually PULLS stuff out of your skin. I love when I put a mask on & wipe it off to find my face is really red. This may scare some, but it actually is a good thing because the mask did it’s job- pulling blood flow to the surface to help heal acne & pull OUT the bad stuff.  It smells like rotten eggs (sulfur), but I also like that cause I know sulfur really helps with acne.

3. Eminence Eight Phyto Masque (hot)

I have always LOVED Eminence products. The names, the results, the ingredients- Eminence has always been a trusted product for me. When I started doing research on hormonal acne, which is a way different beast then regular acne, so many people were recommending this mask– but the HOT version only. There is a regular version, but it doesn’t have the same results as the hot version.

The heat in the mask helps stimulate cell renewal & collagen which both have done wonders in my face. It tightens things up while literally killing my acne. It is rich in antioxidants, leaves my skin flushed (remember, that’s a good thing!), & has been a game changer in helping with the hormonal acne without drying out the rest of my face.

4. Dr. Roebucks Byron 2-in-1 mask & scrub

DR. ROEBUCKS is the jam. So good I am featuring two of their masks that I am obsessed with rn. The first one is a SCRUB mask which I have never tried before but LOVE. I feel like when my acne is acting up, it needs a good scrub to get rid of the dead skin. Sometimes my skin craves a really GOOD SCRUB sesh.

This mask though isn’t just a scrub, which is why I am especially obsessed. The scrub happens when you wash it off, but while it is ON your face it does wonders for your complexion. It is infused with peppermint oil, kaolin, & white tea which is both acne clearing & antioxidant rich. It really is an ALL IN ONE experience & leaves my skin feeling SO fresh, SO clean, & SO smooth.

5. Dr. Roebucks Tama Healing Mask

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, this is my relaxing mask. This mask is all about healing & it’s the mask I use when I have really pissed off my skin. I mentioned, hormonal acne is STUBBORN, meaning extractions are a bitch. I definitely go after the acne myself with my long fake nails (sorry if this grosses people out, but I am full blown picker) & sometimes I go too hard. My facialist is cringing rn, but it’s the truth. Zack yells at me when I am the bathroom “STOP PICKING” because he knows I always hate myself after.

This mask helps heal when I am an asshole to my skin. It is infused with turmeric, manuka honey, & avocado oil which really helps calm shit down. After a picking sesh I am red in a bad way… my jawline will look horrific. I immediately am mad at myself, but this mask realllly does wonders when I go too hard. I put it on for about 15 minutes (it’s BRIGHT orange from the turmeric) & when I was it off the whole situation is calmed down. It is also a GLOWY mask, so not only does it help with the redness & inflammation from picking…. it leaves me dewy af.

OKAY- there you have it! None of this is sponsored & only two of these were gifted to me. JUST KEEPING IT REAL. These mask are actually my faves to date, so I had to share. NOW IT’S YOUR TURN, if you got a face mask you swear by, comment below! I am a total face mask junkie, so send the recs my way bbys!
