Okay so first off, have you guys heard of “The Champagne Diet“??
I have been reading up on it for the past couple days & am really intrigued by the whole concept. I meannnn….. any diet that not only allows, but encourages, a nightly champagne toast is the diet for me. I just ordered the book on Amazon so I will def. let you guys know how it goes for me! If any of you have tried it or heard anything about it, LMK! I’d love to hear.
In the meantime though, let’s talk about the fact that I have somehow ended the holiday season with quite a few leftover bottles of champagne?! I guess this year wasn’t quite as boozy as previous years, cause leftover bubbly has literally never happened in my house ever. Weird.
Typically I’d just hold onto the excess & drink them in time… but I wanted to get creative w/ some of the cheaper bottles that I hate the taste of (almond champagne = worst idea ever), which is when I learned all about the bomb ass beauty benefits in a bottle of bubbly. Who knew that the grapes used to make champagne are special grapes w/ an extra boost of antioxidants & some super strong toning properties? Rad.
Here are a few champagne beauty recipes that I have personally tried, tested, & loved::
1. Skin-Tox Face Mask:: this mask is a great way to help detox your skin, which is esp. useful after a long night of drinking. It’s like hair of the dog, but for your face. Simply mix together 1/4 cup of champagne + 1/2 cup of Bentonite clay, let sit on your skin for 20 minutes, & rinse clean.
This killer combo helps pull out the toxins from your skin (thanks to the clay), but leaves it glowing and gorgeous (thanks to the antioxidants).
2. Healthy Hair Rinse:: Next time you hop in the shower, bring your bottle of bubbly with you. Simply get your hair wet, ring it out, pour some champs over your head, let sit while you shave your legs, & rinse with warm water.
The result? Some seriously shiny tresses! Added bonus for the blondes, this will brighten up your color BIG TIME between hair appointments (actually recommended by a lot of top stylists!).
3. Tone it Up:: As I mentioned before, champagne is super rich in antioxidant’s & has wayyy more vitamin E & C than any store bought product. These natural ingredients do a great job at protecting your skins precious collagen & elastin from oxidative stress + free radicals (a.k.a. your skins worst nightmare), which is why champagne works so well as a toner. Just soak a cotton pad with a bit of champagne and wipe it all over your clean face. Let dry & moisturize as normal.
& if after all that bubbly beauty you still have leftover champagne and are starting to get thirsty again, you can always whip up my favorite drink of all time: a Blackberry Champagne Slush (seen below).
Cheers babes!! x, E
