I wouldn’t be doing my bloggers due diligence if I didn’t atleast mention the Balmain x H&M collection launching soon (November 5th, mark your calendars!!), but today I’m doing more than just a mention… because, like the rest of the fashion world, I’m all about it.
Olivier Rousteing (p.s. did you know he is 29?! seriously, he’s a prodigy.) pretty much killed it with this collab. It’s every bit Balmain & looks so much like the main line that it’s almost kinda insane. The details, the embellishments, the weight (you can tell, those garments look heavy), the silhouettes… I really can’t even put it into words how rad everything is.
The collection has over 100 pieces including shoes & accessories, and the price points range from $18 to $650+. Yes, be prepared to see much higher price tags, but please don’t bitch & whine about it.
People have gotten pretty pissy in the past about H&M selling stuff for such high prices, but these collabs are really not geared to the everyday H&M shopper– they are for the fashion aficionados who love designer but can’t neccesarily afford it. To those people, they know Balmain & they know that these prices are a steal of a deal for what they’re getting (quality x 100).
So, will I be shopping the Balmain x H&M collection this year, high prices & all?
HOPEFULLY! I know I won’t be able to buy everything I want (see below, naturally my top picks are on the higher end of the price scale), but I am crossing my fingers on a few pieces I really don’t think I can live without.
The real question is, will I be ABLE to shop the collab?!
There is zero way in hell I am going to actually go anywhere near an H&M that day, just the thought of the lines/crowds/cat fights over a pair of boots gives me severe anxiety.
So, my only option is to shop it online, which I know from experience… isn’t much less stress free then the store itself. For the Alexander Wang collab I woke Zack up at 6am to be prepared to shop, & let me tell you… it wasn’t easy.
The site crashed 900x, not saving my cart each time, & things were selling out way quicker than we could actually complete a purchase. I am not sure I can convince Zack to do that again with me (online shopping for your GF at 6am does NOT make for a happy boy. TRUST!), so I will be all on my own & I’m just hoping to get atleast one thing sans throwing my computer out the window out of frustration.
I did a post last year on how to successfully shop the Alexander Wang collab, & the same rules apply for this coveted collection, so check out all my tips here & take notes. It’s not a sure fire way to guarantee you get everything you want, but it will 100% help in a big way.
The Lush List | Balmain x H&M
» the most bad ass leather jacket I’ve ever laid my eyes on.
» green suede accessories on point, so down for that green suede.
» blazer dresses: the all black one is a classic, but that beaded beauty is next level (as seen on Kendall & GiGi, so… yea, I want!).
» THE PANTS THOUGH! I am obsessing over that fit w/ the little ankle zips. I am tied between the green suede & the leather, I wouldn’t be bummed on owning both.
» over the knee boots are my jam, & from the looks of it, these seem to have a nice snug fit which I love/need/want.
That’s all (lol), what’s your guys’ fave from the collection?! x, E
[p.s. I am also pretty stoked on this preview of the music video that will launch alongside the collection, Kendall Jenner is breaking it down!! ]
