Man ohhh man have I got a good DIY for all of you! The other week (or maybe two), I hopped in my car and made my way up to the good old LBC to visit my ladies. When all of us are together, it is always seriously hilarious. I don’t know what it is, but when the forces join, sh*t gets weird. I love it.
When all of our nutty shenanigans slowed down for a hot minute, we decided to squeeze in a craft. On the menu: tinctures. Making these, I seriously felt like a chemist or something. It all seemed so scientific, yet in reality it was a breeze.
Tinctures serve so many purposes, depending on the type. I will share more about the tinctures we made & their properties later in the post. Read on ladies.
The only thing is, after you make them, it takes 2 weeks for the magic happen. Therefore, I didn’t get to see the finished result, but I got word they were fab.
This is a great gift idea or just a special little yummy treat for yourself.
+ We made 4 diff. options: Vanilla, cinnamon, orange, and lemon.
+ Supplies Needed: vodka, brandy, 6 cinnamon sticks, a bunch of orange peels, a bunch of lemon peels, 4-5 vanilla pods, mason jar, little bottles (like these).
+ Step 1: Prep your goods. For the vanilla beans you are going to want to cut them lengthwise and scrape the little beans out, place two in a jar. Peel your oranges & lemons removing the pith.
Step 2: fill your mason jars to the brim with the corresponding booze. Vanilla & cinnamon get the brandy, the citruses get the vodka. Screw the lid on tight.
Step 3: Let sit in a cool dark place for 2 weeks, shaking it daily. When ripe & ready, pour your liquid into the smaller jar using a coffee filter (or cheesecloth) to catch all the excess.
here are the benefits of your new tinctures:
+ Vanilla: First and foremost, it smells delish. Smelling vanilla help you relax (much needed), works to lift your spirits, and is an aphrodisiac that lowers inhibitions (super sexy).
+ Cinnamon: Cinnamon is also quite risque as it is also an aphrodisiac and will drive your guy nuts. Dab a little on your neck, and flirt a little so he can get a whiff. He will be on his toes quick. It is also an inflammatory that can be applied directly to sore muscles and it’s antibacterial.
+ Orange: Orange provides a fruit scent that helps with any icky depression, calms frayed nerves, and altogether lifts your spirits (and the ones around you). If consumed, orange will also help aid digestion, provide anti-cancer properties, & assist in body detox. Lastly, you can also put it on your skin to help with acne, wrinkles, and overall skin health.
+ Lemon: Lemon has a lot of the same properties of orange as they are both citrus fruits. Yet lemons also provide an extra amount of energy when you smell it or add it to your water, the scent helps relieve anxiety, and it is also a natural insect repellent & disinfectant.
There you have it ladies, have fun with this one & share your results.
