Breaking Down my Daily Supplements for Thyroid Health (& more)

I posted my little handful of supplements on my Instagram & it was requested I break ’em down on the blog. I didn’t think any one would be interested because it’s a lot of thyroid specific supplements (read more on my Graves diagnosis here)… but turns out, SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THYROID ISSUES THESE DAYS & requested I get this down on the blog

SO, HERE WE ARE…

First off- everyone deals with health issues differently & this is a no judgement zone. For me, I personally always choose to try a more natural approach vs. going straight to prescription meds. I starting seeing a great naturopath who specializes in Thyroid conditions & his whole plan (supplements, fitness, healthy lifestyle changers) has been AMAZING for me. My levels have reduced by over half across the board, I rarely have a racing heart, I started gaining weight again (not really a bonus cause I got used to eating all the bagels, but definitely a sign I am getting better), & I can work out without feeling like my heart is gonna actually explode.

It’s been a total game changer for my health so read on for a full supplement breakdown & *AS ALWAYS*: I am not a doctor! What works for me may not work for you!! Always do your own research & consult a doctor if need be… you know the deal.

My Daily Supplements for Thyroid Health (& more)

1. a-Drenal:

these supplements contain a natural blend of adaptogenic herbs & botanicals to help support the adrenals and fight adrenal fatigue. My adrenals showed they were quite stressed & tired- so I now take 2 of these in the am when I wake up + another two around lunch to keep the adrenals healthy, give me some steady energy, & manage my cortisol levels during the day.

ALSO, when your adrenals are more chill, so are you… so these actually help with anxiety too.

2. Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega-3:

I have always liked to take an omega daily for my hair/skin/nails, but they are also really good for thyroid health. When you are deficient in Omega it can create an inflammatory response in the thyroid gland which could cause your thyroid condition to “flare up”.

All in all, a fish oil is just a good staple supplement for a variety of things & this one is my favorite cause it tastes like lemon (can’t do a fishy fish oil) & is just a really good quality fish oil. I take 2 daily with food.

3. Ortho Molecular Products SBI Protect:

OKAY- so to break this one down for you in the most simplest terms: Immunoglobulin is a powerful natural ingredient found in the human body that performs a variety of powerful functions. SBI is Serum-Derived Bovine Immunoglobulin & this type of Immunoglobulin is a game changer when it comes to gut health. It aids the immune system of ridding the body of toxins within the gut + helps maintain overall gut health. They say your gut is your second brand, so V important you keep it healthy!!

4. Pure Encapsulations Cortisol Calm:

OKAY- so my Cortisol levels were all over the place. They are better now, but adding in Cortisol supplements was a BIG part of this puzzle. First up is Cortisol Calm, which does just that- chill out the Cortisol to help you to relax, stay more calm in stressful situations, & boost your mood. PLUS- Cortisol & Thyroid function go hand in hand so you gotta control the both together.

I take 1 of these around 3pm. This Cortisol supplement is more mild, so I can take it in the afternoon to start the “calming” of my Cortisol levels, but they don’t recommend taking Cortisol in the morning because it could make you sleepy.

5. Integrative Therapeutics Cortisol Manager:

These are my more “serious” Cortisol Capsules & I take one at night to just help me sleep mainly. I have a hard time sleeping & that could def. be due to the fact my Cortisol spikes later at night. Anyways, one of these & I fall asleep easy without having issues waking up in the morning or being drowsy (contains ingredients like Ashwagandha, L-Theanine, Magnolia, and Epimedium).

6. Herb Farm Thyroid Calming Tincture:

This high potency thyroid calming herb tincture helps to support the endocrine system. I just started taking it this week per recommendation of my doctor & so far, so good. My heart rate hasn’t been crazy, which is always the first sign my thyroid is acting up. I take 1 full dropper full in a glass of water 4x a day.

7. Source Naturals Wellness Formula

Someone recommended this to me the last time I was sick & I’ve been taking it ever since. It’s AN AMAZING blend of herbs/antioxidants/vitamins that help keep your immune system strong af. I take 1 daily, but if I am feeling like I could be getting sick, I up my dose to 3 & feel 100% better the next day.
