hmmm… where do we begin with wedding dress talk?
I am saving the “what I learned about dress shopping” post for later, once I have a few more appointments under my belt, but I did go to one & it was… ya know, dress shopping? Don’t get me wrong, we had fun with the whole thing, but fun fact about me: I don’t love trying on clothes.
I am def. not the bride who is going to be trying on 15 dresses, 10 of them being “just for fun”. I tried on 5 dresses this first time around, liked one (not loved, just liked), & was out of there in under an hour. The bridal salesperson expressed that I was definitely one of the easier brides she has had in there, which is great, I am easy when it comes to this whole wedding thing. That’s my bridal vibe- easy peasy.
I honestly think that the whole dress shopping process is going to be one of my more daunting wedding tasks for me. One, as mentioned, I don’t like trying dresses on. Two, I am not at my goal when it comes to my wedding bod, so not feeling your fittest when trying on gorgeous gowns just sucks. Three, I am like not picky… but when it comes to bridal, I guess I am considered picky.
What I don’t Want in a Wedding Dress:
+ too much lace
+ boho vibes
+ too princess-y
+ too much tulle, must be able to fit as a carry on on the plane
+ nothing too traditional
+ not too girly
What I DO want in a wedding dress:
+ different
+ edgy
+ still timeless
+ makes me look banging (snatched waist please)
+ sleek silhouette
+ silky
+ off duty cool girl vibes
+ maybe no veil??
… & with those lists list I’ve found out the pickings are slim for me. Sure, there are edgy wedding dress designers out there, but there are just so many dresses in general that I get overwhelmed & stress myself out. Now I am left with major wedding dress FOMO. We have two appointments booked for next weekend in LA, which I am looking forward to, but I have this ongoing anxiety that I am missing one. That I am overlooking a boutique that MIGHT have my dress.
Not to mention, the one dress I liked our first time around (not pictured here, just in case) ended up being incredibly girly/traditional- so now I am just super confused with myself.
FINGERS CROSSED we find the dress next weekend in LA, I am hoping we find the edge I am looking for & I am ready to have that part of the wedding handled.
