Not saying I’m the cool girl, but I do follow a lot on Instagram ;) & they all are showing off some pretty rad necklace situations. This new neck trend is super layered & involves lots of coins, medallions, angels, rosaries, lockets, pendants, crosses, dainty chokers, all gold….
Snap a pic, add a little grain, some dust, & you’ve got your self a cool girl neckfie.
ONE THING ABOUT the crosses though… they really are EVERYWHERE & I am kinda bummed cause they look so cool, but I am Jewish & rocking a cross feels just a bit too sacrilegious. I have a cousin (also Jewish) who has worked in the fashion industry for years & she LOVES wearing crosses. It’s actually become kind of her thing, and she sees nothing weird about it. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?
Curious to hear your thoughts on this one cause I am on the fence, but also really loving so many cross pieces.
Back to necklaces… I always feel like I have to hunt hard for the perfect layering necklaces. I don’t like buying them pre-bundled cause I think it’s kinda cheesy (although having one clasp would save me a lot of time untangling necklaces), so I have rounded up some of my FAVORITE rad necklaces of the moment. Some I own, others I want to own!
1. Reliquia Star Sign Necklace
Honestly, I rarely splurge on myself when it comes to jewelry but I saw this necklace on a friend & HAD to have it. It’s actually not a huge splurge, especially for how cute & quality it is! I think I need to spend more on my necklaces actually cause I always forget to take them off in the shower & the cheaper ones ALWAYS tarnish & end up in the trash. This one is shower proof, which I love & it is SUCH a cute zodiac necklace. Not your typical cheesy zodiac necklace either, so chic & different!
2. Ania Haie long coin necklace
Coin necklaces are SO in right now & the perfect cool girl layering piece. I recently got this one & my favorite thing about it is it is long & EASILY adjustable with like a little sliding bead (does that make sense?). When it comes to layering, I personally like different lengths- a choker, two mid neck ones, & a long one. This is my go-to long one.
3. Heart Locket
I really wanted this locket for so long & kept sending it to Zack as a hint hint, so he ended up getting it for me for Valentine’s day w/ a picture of the dogs & him in it. SO CUTE & great for my anxiety cause when I am feeling nervous I like to look at it to calm the fuck down. I know it’s kinda weird it’s from JC Penny, but I searched high & low for this one. It reminds me of the nineties, & we all know how I feel about the nineties (right? obsessed).
4. Gold Shark Tooth
Etsy is my JAM for jewelry. I just got this dainty gold shark tooth necklace & is the perfect length for layering. Not a regular necklace that hits near the cleavage, but also not a choker… it’s the middle necklace I rock for my layering look & I just love a gold shark tooth.
5. Rosary Drop Lariat
Back to my question- can I wear this if I am a jew??? Cause I am obsessed with this vibe. Rosaries are one of my favorite long layering pieces I see people wearing & I really need to know if it’s okay for me to get one or not cause I want this one in a bad way.
6. Tiny Star Choker
Originally I had another choker on the list w/ dainty stars but realized it was sold out & I was loving it so I of course went to Etsy. I found the identical one for a third of the price. Etsy never fails & I obviously bought it. A choker is a must for this layered necklace look & I love a dainty gold star situation.
