Utility Jumpsuit Styling with Me *duh* & Boss Babe, Shenae Grimes-Beech

EXCITED FOR TODAY’S POST, for two reasons:

1. I am here for the UTILITY JUMPSUIT trend. I love a onesie moment, & this vibe is so up my alley. It’s kinda vintage-ish/kinda Yeezy-ish, & currently I am hunting hard for a denim version of the one I am wearing. IF YOU FIND ONE, send to me plz!

2. I have a really amazing guest on the blog, Shenae Grimes-Beech!!

PLEASE GUYS, tell me you guys were as hooked on the 90210 remake as I was? That show was my JAM, & Shenae was the star (what up Annie!). So- when she reached out to me I was definitely stoked (maybe even a tad star struck!!) & even more so when she told me WHAT she was doing.

She is a blogger/influencer, yet still acts, & she now has a really dope product called THE BADASS BOX. There is really nothing more I love then a girl who hustles hard & I wanted to have her on the blog.

Instead of my typical interview a badass babe post, I wanted to mix things up. She lives in LA & has a rad rock n’ roll vibe going on- so I thought it’d be fun to see how she styled the utility jumpsuit trend. Plus, I got to ask her some fun questions- tips for new bloggers, how she styled the utility jumpsuit, & WHAT IS THE BADASS BOX.

Obviously, we will get to that, but I wanna give my two cents on The Badass Box.

I am gonna be real with you guys when I say I am not a subscription box person. I typically like to pick my products, I don’t need mini sample size products at my doorstep every month, & I have never found one that fit my personality.

WHICH IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE BADASS BOX. It’s for the girls like me who don’t neccesarily want everything to be pink/girly/etc. It’s an EDGY box & when I opened mine, I was SO PUMPED on everything in it. Literally, it was all so on point & so my style.

A few of the highlights in the box:

BLACK & GOLD marble portable charging bank from Ideal of Sweden… which is easily my favorite thing in the box considering my battery is ALWAYS on 1%.

☆ a fun pair of Perverse sunglasses.

Doucce eye shadow palette.

☆ some delicious B.toffee… that I may or may not be eating as we speak.

☆ the CUTEST teeny tiny gold lightening bolt earrings by Kris Nations, which I am especially excited about because I kid you not-  I have been on the hunt for teeny lightening bolt studs.

☆ VEISE Pore perfection vitamin face mask, I LOVE A GOOD FACE MASK!

☆ a yummy smelling Evil Queen Candle called “Let’s Makeout” that Zack is trying to steal to take to his office.

AMAZING, YEA? Also, I love that it’s quarterly because I personally feel like monthly is too much & dilutes the quality of each box. This one is SUPER quality & all the products are full sized!!

WHAT I’M WEARING:

Missguided utility jumpsuit (sold out- similar) | nude sock boots | vintage gold lion belt  (similar) | Le Specs ‘Last Lolita’ sunglasses

☆ INTRODUCE YOURSELF:

SHENAE GRIMES-BEECH: I’m Shenae Grimes-Beech! I’m an actor/digital influencer. I’m originally from Toronto but have lived in LA for a decade now…holy shit, time flies! While acting, I’ve always fed my passion for fashion with summer internships in the fashion industry at the likes of Fashion Television, Teen Vogue & What Goes Around Comes Around. Now I get to express all of that passion on my own blog, Lost in Lala!

I am still acting & will be starring in a new TV series called The Detail, in which I play a whizkid homicide detective rookie with a penchant for getting in trouble both in her professional & personal life! I’m also a wife & dog-mom who values homemaking & time with my family, which we hope to expand soon!

☆ HOW DID YOU STYLE THE UTILITY JUMPSUIT?

SGB: I styled the utility jumpsuit with a pair of casual summer heels. It’s pretty much summer year round in LA, so sandals are a must. I prefer block heels or wedges because comfort is a key part of LA style. I also opted for my vintage Louis Vuitton backpack as it is cute & practical with the jumpsuit.

I went with quirky round sunglasses that I picked up at a flea market along the way. It’s bright & sunny every day & everyone wears sunnies as a way to stand out & express their unique style! I went with a top knot & rolled the cuffs because I felt like the jumpsuit was a lot of fabric for my short frame so I wanted to break it up with hints of skin. I threw a bandana on because we love a bandana as a head or neck accessory in LA & it styles out an otherwise quick & simple hairstyle.

☆ WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ACCOUNT TO FOLLOW ON INSTAGRAM?

SGB: Hmmm, honestly? @fuckjerry. I go through phases with certain influencers but I don’t get quite the kick out of any of them that I do out of his hilarious memes!

☆ FOR SOMEONE GETTING STARTED OUT IN THE BLOG/INFLUENCER INDUSTRY, WHAT ADVICE FOR YOU GIVE THEM FOR GAINING AN AUDIENCE?

SGB: Be authentic to yourself because it’s too hard to maintain a fake, forced image & people can sniff it out from a mile away. Be regular with your content & posting. I am pretty terrible at this. But one of my resolutions this year was to try harder at keeping it up! Whenever I post regularly, my engagement & following increases so I’ve seen it work firsthand, but it can be tough, so stockpiling content is a great help when you can.

Also, stories are something I’m trying to get better at as well. That raw insight into your life is what people relate to most!

☆ TELL US ABOUT THE BADASS BOX!?

SGB: The Badass Box is a quarterly subscription box geared towards ladies whohustle that like a bit of edge w/ their fashion, beauty & lifestyle. We focus on delivering quality, full-size products to our subscribers & everything we include in the box is hand-selected & approved by me & my partner Jessica!

I wanted this to be a super well-rounded box so we include everything from hair, makeup, skincare, fashion accessories, home decor, tech & even the occasional delicious treat! Life is busy & it’s hard to shop, let alone discover new products, which is what I personally love about subscription boxes. You can discover new brands that you would never otherwise hear about. Plus, the value is always a sweet deal as well!

Our box costs $75 each quarter but has a retail value of over $250! We started this because we love subscription boxes. But as girls with edgy style, we couldn’t really identify with a lot of the boxes out there! We love black, metallics, pops of color/prints, sarcastic slogans, masculine influences & on-trend cool stuff that isn’t too girly girl.

We don’t conform to society’s ideals of what a woman sounds likes, looks likes, talks & walks like, etc. & we wanted to create a box that broke that mold & united badass women like us who strive to break that mold everyday!
