If you would have told me 5 years ago all I wanted to wear was chunky ass Dad sneakers, or any sneakers for that matter, I wouldn’t have believed you.
I have been a heels/boots girl my whole life & it’s definitely caught up to me. Does it make me old to say I can’t wear heels like I used to? Yes, it for sure does, but it’s the truth. My feet are so much more sensitive than they use to be.
SO- when the Balenciaga Triple S sneakers came on the scene & quickly became the hot new trend, I WAS NOT MAD. Yes, this shoe looks just like my Dad’s dirty pair of sneaks from the 90’s that I have begged him to get rid of for years (I feel like they are so clunky they make him trip), & yes- I want all of them on my feet. If only my Dad & I wore the same size, I’d be in DAD SHOE heaven.
I posted a pic on the gram a few days ago gaging what YOU GUYS thought of the new DAD SHOE trend & a lot of people liked them, but didn’t know how they would rock the trend… so today I am sharing with you guys some really fun ways to style this trend, while simultaneously buying everything in this post.
5 Ways to Rock the Dad Sneaker Trend
01. DAD SHOES + DAD JEANS
so, this was how I rocked the trend, & I am all about a Dad look combo. I am wearing my fave jeans ever, the Frame ‘le original’ jeans w/ an I.AM.GIA black crop top (this one is sold out, here), the go to Le Specs sunglasses, & my new Skechers D’lites white sneakers!
Yass- SKECHERS are bringing back the OG chunky sneaker & I am feeling it. I got them in white & the black/white combo & could seriously live in them. They have all of the Balenciaga feels, for less than $60, & it feels like you’re walking on clouds.
02. SOCKS FOR THE WIN
HAVE YOU SEEN THE SOCK/SNEAKER TREND? It’s next on my list & this is exactly how I will rock it: black blazer dress, black tights, Balenciaga white socks (budget version here), & Skechers D’lites in black & white.
CHIC, right? I honestly can’t wait to rock this look. I don’t have the Balenciaga socks yet… debating if buying Balenciaga socks is worth it or not (answer: it’s not… but I just really really feel like I need these?!).
03. GIRLY, BUT NOT…
If I were a festival girl, this would be my go-to look for Coachella: fun floral print dress (love this color!!!), an oversized jean jacket, some nineties inspired sunnies, & these RAD Nike Airmax 98 sneakers. I would 100% crimp my hair all over & maybe throw in some fun matching green bobby pins.
This outfit is the only thing that has ever made me wish I was into festivals, but I will just wear it around the house or something.
04. THE KIM K. VIBE
Anyone else SO obsessed w/ the YEEZY SEASON 6 VIBE?! Makes me want to buy a blonde wig asap. Get the look for MUCH less with this grey oversized hoodie, white tank top bralette top, grey bike shorts, & these Puma Duel Rise sneakers that I am so so so into.
They kinda channel the new LV Archlight sneakers that everyone is wearing w/ that split sole- but I personally think these are cuter (the braided detail!!!). I am not a huge fan of those new LV ones, surprisingly.
05. DRESSED UP SNEAKS
Now that sneakers are so in, I may start to get social at night. The thought of 4 hours dancing in heels makes me want to get in my pajamas & order in Postmates. Going out & looking fly in sneakers sounds way more doable to me.
Next girls night out I will be wearing some skinny leather pants, a black bodysuit (love this one too!), this glen plaid duster coat (just ordered! So cute & only $40!), & the Fila Disruptor sneaker (just ordered these too!).
