Micellar Water is Major Key

When it comes to beauty/style/diet/living well, the women of France know what’s up. If you don’t know this already, I def. suggest picking up a copy of ‘How To Be a Parisian‘ & have a highlighter ready to take some notes on how to live proper (including how to get that amazing effortlessly cool vibe #GOALS).

Basically, when a French woman talks, listen up.

I honestly think that if Marion Cotillard walked up to me & swore that using a French crepe w/ nutella as a sheet mask is her trick for insane skin- I’d be ALL about it. Their skin is seriously so insane it’s unfair.

While getting sucked in the world of French beauty on Google, I found out why/how/what exactly makes them have the best complexions in the game. It’s all about the WATER, or actually, lack thereof. French women don’t let tap water touch their skin as the water in France is very harsh & wrecks your skin.

It got me thinking about my water. I know it’s on the harsh side because my hair get’s dried out and the color get’s stripped. I just never really thought about how it would be effecting my skin, but I decided to find out by quitting water.

I still had to wash my face & since hoarding water bottles was unrealistic, I went full force with the skincare routine of French women & hopped on the Micellar Water train.

Micellar water was developed in France mainly to help resolve with the harsh water skin problem & after all these years, the French women let their best kept beauty secret come over to the U.S.

PRAISE!!! Read on below for all of the 411 about this magical water & I’d love to hear if you’ve already tried Micellar water/if you liked it as much as I do?! x, E

p.s. this post is 100% NOT sponsored, although maybe I can find a brand who want’s to offer me a lifetime supply. That’d be nice.

WHAT IS MICELLAR WATER?

Micellar water is made of teeny tiny particles called micelles.

These microscopic molecules are floating in soft water & work as cleansing agents once they come in contact with any grime. These micelles literally trap dirts/makeup/oils while dissolving away impurities. Micellar water is super gentle, non-drying, & great for sensitive skin. It doesn’t suds up (which causes stripping) & you literally just wipe it off your face & call it a day.

HOW TO WASH YOUR FACE WITH MICELLAR WATER

This process is RIDICULOUSLY easy & even referred to as the “lazy girls’ face wash” because their is no rinsing involved. Soak a cotton pad in Micellar water, wipe over your face, repeat until the cotton pad and your face are totally clean. Finish with moisturizer if you like, but it’s also okay to skip it because Micellar Water is super moisturizing. Honestly, you could wash your face from bed if you were so inclined.

I am using this Micellar water by Garnier just because it had good reviews, but if you scroll to the end of this post will you find the top 10 most popular Micellar water options people swear by!

MY MICELLAR EXPERIENCE

I am kinda lazy when it comes to my skincare, so the fact it is so easy is pretty nice. Mainly though, what it’s done for my skin is major. I used it the first night & I kid you not- I woke up in the morning with the brightest skin. Each day things just got better & better. My skin is SUPER plump & dewy (not oily at all!), my skin tone immediately started to even out, & by day four I noticed that dry patches & some super annoying acne on my jawline basically vanished.

I am now going on week two of the no water life & I feel like my skin has done a massive 180. I just ordered a three pack of bottles & am seriously considering filtered faucets so I don’t have to keep my face out of the shower head (which yes, I am doing). Also, I can only imagine how it would help my hair.

INGREDIENTS

It is always important to look at the ingredients in a product & EWG has a great cosmetic database. These Micellar water’s do have chemicals, but just because you can’t read them does NOT mean they are neccesary bad for your skin. I always suggest doing your own research, but also keep in mind what’s in tap water for comparison: chlorine, fluorine compounds, trihalomethanes, salts of arsenic/radium/aluminum/copper/lead/mercury/cadmium/barium, hormones, nitrates, & pesticides.
