My Studio Apartment Makeover

If there is one piece of advice I can give anyone- it’s to live alone atleast once in your life. It’s been the most rewarding/amazing/growing experience ever.

My house is 100% my happy place. Just as it should be.

When I first moved in to my quaint studio about a year ago, I went to storage, grabbed what I had lying around leftover from the 5+ places I have lived in since starting college, & just kinda threw stuff together the best I could.

It was cute & cozy, but I just wasn’t vibing it 100%. It was way past time to ditch the floral bedding (IDK what i was thinking w/ that one?!) and go for something more… streamlined.

++ so in love w/ my bed setup! ++

I am all about B&W minimalistic anything/everything, so that was naturally the direction I wanted to go. Problem is, I am decor-challeneged in a major way. People have said fashion & home decor go hand in hand. If you can do one, you can manage the other. I beg to differ. I may be able to put together an outfit, but putting together a bed… that’s a whole other story (ex. floral sheets.).

I went to Homegoods one day, filled my cart up with a bunch of sh*t I thought would look good, & started sending my uber-stylish/interior designer cousin (Jhoanne) pictures of everything in my cart. She called me immediately, told me to put it all back, go home, & wait till she gets into town in two weeks.

I couldn’t wait. I knew she was going to pull something off major. Not only does she totally get me/what I like, but she is also the coolest person ever & can design a home like it’s nobodies business (check out her site here– drool!). Plus, her badass townhouse in San Francisco kills me. If my studio was even an iota like her place, I knew I’d be obsessed.

After two days, one trip to Ikea, two trips to Homegoods, & three furniture building injuries– my poorly designed studio all of the sudden looked like a feature straight out of Apartment Therapy. I still haven’t fully wrapped my head around how she did it, but it was nothing short of a miracle… & everything I wanted + so much more.

Check it out, let me know what you guys think of my studio apartment makeover, & stay tuned for more home decor posts/DIY’s (I’ve still got the backyard & bathroom to style!).

++ I was dead set against color– but Jhoanne informed that, even if B&W was my dream, w/o a pop of color I’d get extremely bored. Obviously, she was spot on. I opted for greens & yellow, based solely around my new insanely chic elephant. ++

++ I love how Jhoanne “layered” art/books/records on a wall shelf above the couch. ++

fashionlush, coffee table decor, black and white

++ Dying over my new & improved coffee table… and that alligator magnifying glass. Perfection. ++

fashionlush, desk decor, how to style a studio

++ above the desk essentials:: framed photos, a gold foil print, color co-ordinated books, & my fave shoes on display (naturally). ++

fashionlush, home decor, bar cart styling

++ bar cart decor (check out my marble bar cart DIY here). ++

fashionlush, home decor, dog teepee

++ & of course, Bitzy needed her space “remodeled” as well. My lil’ diva is quite pleased & spending a lot more time in her teepee. ++

& per request of my readers… here is some fisheye pictures so you can see it as a whole!!::
