WTF is Emsculpt & Did it ACTUALLY Give me Abs (honest review!!)

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, so many of you have been asking for a final update on my Emsculpt treatment & now that it’s been the recommended 3 months for FULL results, I am ready to share!!

**also, I know it really bugs ppl when a blogger says “everyone’s been asking” & I feel that. In this case, they really have… I MEAN, who wouldn’t want to know if the hype is real when it comes to a machine that gives you abs while you literally do NOTHING?!**

That being said, if you don’t follow me on the gram & you landed here with a google search looking for answers about Emsculpt- you’re in the right place. My Mom & I did our Emsculpt treatments done at Alcheme in San Diego. Alcheme is our go-to spot for all things cosmetic (best botox too!! you can learn more about my botox routine here).

OH & ALSO & Alcheme made the CUTEST video of my Mom & I getting Emsculpt HERE, just to get an idea what’s involved…  but I am also gonna fill you in on ALL the dirty deets about Emsculpt!!

FIRST OFF, WTF IS EMSCULPT?!

Okay, so this little machine is the world’s FIRST FDA approved device that can actually burn fat & build muscle using magnetic fields. It’s a NON surgical procedure, there is ZERO downtime (other than feeling like you just worked out, which I personally love), doesn’t hurt, & currently approved to be used on butt/abs (arms & legs coming soon!).

We did it on our abs, so this conversation will based around ABS, but the same goes for the booty.

SO- how it works is they put a paddle on your abs & it works by literally pulsing your muscles to work the area of concern. One session lasts about 30 minutes & is the equivalent of 20,000 sit ups!! The recommendation is 4 sessions in a 2 week span (2 sessions a week) & the results take up to 3 months to fully”develop” cause muscle needs time to build.

You can adjust the intensity of the pulses, but my Mom & I went to 100 each time cause we really wanted to see the full results. The first session was intense & I was definitely sore in the abs the next day, but not intense sore- just like I had a really good ab work. By the time we got to the 3rd & 4th it was a breeze. We wanted to go above 100 & that’s because we were already stronger at that point.

All in all, the process was a TOTAL BREEZE & at Alcheme they gave us kombucha with bee pollen, comfy blankets, & we were CHILLING at our mother daughter “ab workout”.

OKAY- SO NOW, WHO SHOULD/SHOULD NOT DO IT?

OBVIOUS answer: anyone who wants a better butt or abs. DUH… but that’s if we lived in a perfect world where you could snap your fingers, pay some money, lay down for a total of 2 hours, & just magically have abs.

That is, sadly, not the case (with any procedure really). The best person for this procedure is someone who lives a healthy lifestyle, it active, eats good, & just needs a BOOST. Not to brag, cause trust me, this is not a brag- I am a perfect candidate for Emsculpt & here is why:

Up until about 9 months ago I worked out A LOT. I was doing spin 4x a week & in better shape than I have been in a while. Then, one day, I thought I was going to have a heart attack while in spin class. I then was realizing my heart was always beating super fast & I was always out of breath. Went to the doctor & found out I have Graves disease (read more on that here). It’s basically hyperthyroidism… to the extreme & I was told NO HEAVY CARDIO.

The other side of that coin, I have spondylolisthesis. I know, I sound like a hot mess with all these medical issues & honestly- I kind of am. Spondylolisthesis is basically a fractured vertebrae that causes extreme low back pain. The double edge sword of this is that the only thing that helps keep my back from KILLING me is keeping my core strong.

So, I haven’t worked out good in months which left me very un-toned & in a TON of pain with my back.

I wanted to try to Emsculpt to get me in a good place to start working out again, I wanted my back pain to go away, & I wanted to look a little bit more toned before our trip to Miami. Check. Check. MF CHECK.

LET’S TALK RESULTS

According to Emsculpt’s own research the results are said to be:

♡ 19% fat reduction
♡ 1.5 inch loss in waistline circumference
♡ 11% reduction in diastasis recti
♡ 5x increase in fat metabolism
♡ 16% increase in muscle mass
♡ 96% patient satisfaction

Now, I don’t know how to measure all that- but my Mom & I both fall into that 96% patient satisfaction group. We both FELT physically stronger in the abs & the main way I knew it worked to build core strength was my back pain was NON-EXISTENT. With my back injury I typically am in horrific pain on airplanes, but plane to Miami was pain free.

FOR ME, THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH TO BE HAPPY AF, but that’s not all I noticed….

NO- I didn’t end up with a 6 pack, but I wasn’t expecting that. I wasn’t in nearly good enough shape for that to happen. I did, however, look damn good in a bikini in Miami if I must say so myself. My weight gain is ALWAYS in my stomach & presents itself as a pooch that looks as if I am minimum 3 months pregnant.

At first I thought that maybe I didn’t see a difference, but then I saw the photos of myself in a bikini NOT SUCKING (candid vibes) & was SHOOKETH. It has been 3 months since the procedure & I have not had any back pain, so I do know my core is stronger, but I have been bad with getting back into working out. That is my own fault, but I did do a few pilates classes recently & I can feel when working out that I have maintained the core strength. I feel like it is MOST DEF helping me not look like an amateur in my workout classes & kickstart my fitness results faster.

IN CONCLUSION

If you are overweight & looking for a miracle, I am sorry- this isn’t it. There is no such thing. If you are close to your goals, eat healthy, live healthy, & just looking for that kick in the ass to get things where you want- YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! CoolSculpt does nothing, btw, EMSCULPT is where it is at.

& if you’re in San Diego, check out Alcheme. They are one of like 3 places in San Diego that offer it & there spa is actually my favorite place to be.
