ALRIGHT- so for times sake, because I am sure some of you are sick of travel content. I am now combining looks & what we did. Trying to be efficient so we can move alone here- although I do have some EPIC videos coming soon from our trip. CAN NOT WAIT.

Also, I just had a glass of wine cause I was “entertaining”… but I never drink, so this post should be fun.

ANYWAYS, we went to Positano. I couldn’t go to Italy & not check out the hot Instagram spot of the moment. But actually- the real reason we went cause we needed a beach moment. With all the biking done in Copenhagen & all the walking done in Florence, I had a feeling we’d want to chill for a few days. I polled Instagram & Positano beat out Cinque Terre….

SO HERE WE ARE.

Breaking down all the 411 (LITERALLY, everything) you need to know about Positano, where you need to go, what you need to do, where to eat, a SMIDGE about Capri, & of course- my lewkssss (which is mainly bathing suits). x

How we Got to Positano

I feel like this is important cause when it comes to figuring out transportation in a foreign country I get confused. I can do planes, but trains & buses are too much for me. I hand it off to Zack & now that I get it, I feel like I can explain it. It’s really easy, I just get overwhelmed easily.

STEP 1: We were in Florence, so we took the high speed train (called the Freccia) from Florence (the train station is called Firenze Novella) to Napoli. This would be the same situation if you were in Rome.

STEP 2: When we got to Napoli station we took the “Circumvesuviana” to Sorrento. Let me WARN you, this is not the bougie way to travel. Some people take a private car, but it’s upwards of 200 EURO & the train was maybe 6 EUROS each. There is also a ferry option, but Google said it was sea-sicky so I was not about it. I am not a diva AT ALL, so the ratchet train was fine for me. Buy a hand fan in Florence though, the train was hot & that fan saved me. Also- at the station in Napoli, keep your shit close. We saw some pick pocketers.

STEP 3: When you arrive in Sorrento, you still have to get to Positano. Again, you can take a car. It was 80 euros. We opted for a BUS that was 15 euros. It was a tour bus, which was weird. But they said the driver would make a point to tell us when our stop was. HE DID NOT. We went all the way to Amalfi (30 minutes past Positano). Zack LOVED the view the whole ride, I of course, was miserable. The road is on the side of a cliff. There is 2 inches between buses when they pass each other. I thought we were going to fall off the side of the cliff & I started crying. We took a car back to the train station on our way out.

Where We Stayed in Positano:

Hotel Il Gabbiano. It was nothing special but it had breakfast, a television, a huge ass patio overlooking the ocean, & was the most affordable we could find (which still, wasn’t that affordable. Positano is pricey, be prepared). AIRBNB is a no in Positano, there really was very few AIRBNB’s close to where we wanted to be. IT’S A HIKE TO THE BEACH regardless, stay as close as possible.

If you’re balling, stay at Le Sirenuse. It’s where the fancy people stay.

What we Did in Positano:

We went to the beach- OBVIOUSLY. As I said, it’s a hike to the beach. Something like 200 steps each way, so when you go to the beach & plan to stay, bring a change of clothes to eat dinner. Majority of the really bomb restaurants are down by the beach & there are changing rooms, so we just changed/freshened up there & were ready to eat. We were not about trekking up & down those stairs multiple times a day.

FYI- when at the beach, you buy a chair for like 15 euros & you get the chair all day.

We did one day in Capri (see below), went to the beach one day & chilled/had lunch on the beach, & we did one day on a boat in Positano.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE BOAT. On Instagram you always see chicks on a rad wooden boat & you want that. Book in advance for that fancy boat. We went morning of (you can rent them on the beach) & all that was left was a rubber boat with a motor. It was great & did the job, but not the most insta-worthy situation.

As for the skipper. I did not want a skipper. I wanted to chill with Zack, listen to music, read my book, drink beers. I don’t like a third wheel. We asked around & googled, the consensus was- if you’ve never driven a boat or even driven a boat on a lake, don’t do it. The ocean is a whole different beast… but we don’t like to listen & did it anyways.

My boyfriend is a badass & just picks shit up real quick. It had some scary moments, like when a huge ass ship went by & Zack told me to literally “brace myself”, but here I am writing this post so it went FINE & it was fun. Something about being on vacation makes me REAL brave.

Where we Ate in Positano:

We had breakfast at the hotel & ate some sandwiches at some little spots here & there- but the highlight restaurants were:

+ Chez Black: This is a cute little restaurant right on the beach that everyone raves about. The ambiance was great, the service was perfect, people were singing italian music while we ate, it was vibey AF, & the lobster pasta was NEXT LEVEL. It’s just the place to eat in Positano, so go there.

+ La Sponda at Le Sirenuse: we couldn’t afford the 900 euros a night to stay here, but I needed to see it. We booked far in advance for lunch at La Sponda in the hotel. This is closer to the beach (but give yourself 15 minutes to walk there), so bring a change of clothes & go for lunch. You should’ve seen me getting ALL dolled up in the beach changing rooms. People thought I was nuts, but I had to dress the part.

ANYWAYS, the hotel is INSANE. The lunch was delish (I got anchovies & caprese salad!), the view can’t be beat, so many head to toe Gucci wearing peeps, & the bathrooms were insane. MARBLE EVERYWHERE. Get that mirror selfie in the bathroom, trust… & when you’re done, back to the beach.

Our Day in Capri:

this one doesn’t get a whole post cause we were only there for 6 hours or so. As mentioned, I would have liked a day or two in Capri. It was beautiful & cute, there was more I wanted to see than we were able to. It was kind of a bummer.

From Positano we took the “hydrofoil” (you can’t miss it when at the beach) to Capri. It took 15 minutes or so & they sell beer which made the time fly. You won’t get seasick either. It leaves a few times in the morning (your hotel will tell you!) & then the last one back to Positano is at 6pm.

When we got to Capri, we had no idea what we wanted to do. Either a boat tour around the island (blue grotto tour) OR take a scooter. We planned on renting a boat the next day in Positano, so we opted for the scooter. FUNNY STORY- when I got on the back with Zack & started to go up the mountain, after our first turn, I freaked the fuck out. It was too scary. The tour guide/scooter guy drove up & found us, he ended up driving me across the island while Zack drove solo… BUT I SACKED UP & went with Zack on the way back.

It was exhilarating & I am so glad we did it. If your boyfriend is A BOSS like mine, i’d say do the scooter tour. We drove to ‘lighthouse beach’, did some cliff diving, layed out, ate olives, drank Aperol Spritz (there is a bar WITH A PHONE CHARGING DOCK- genius). The only things I REALLY wished we had time for was gelato at Gelateria Buonocore, dinner at Da Paolina Restaurant (covered in lemon trees), & lounging at the Fontelina beach club.
