Can I just take a minute to say how rad you guys are?! I love love love all the sweet comments you guys have been leaving on Instagram about seeing more of our new house. Seriously, each comment puts a huge ass grin on my face.
I definitely intend to do a full post in due time, but the perfectionist in me needs to get everything in perfect order before that happens. That being said, I do have one part of the house complete, & I couldn’t be more stoked to share it with you guys today.
My brand spanking new gallery wall!!!
Since we moved in so close to the holiday season, Zack & I made a deal with each with each other that instead of exchanging gifts this year, we would each buy the house a gift instead. Since moving is already so expensive & our main focus right now is decorating, this seemed like a genius idea to not worry about gifts AND get the house decorated.
All about killing two birds w/ one stone, ESP. during the holiday season.
I knew I wanted a minimalist gallery wall somewhere in the house way before we even moved in, but once we toured the place & saw it had a black accent wall, my whole vision came together in my head.
I know very little about art, so I do as I do best & began researching. What proportions work best for a gallery wall? What is an ideal layout? What vibe am I going for (thanks Pinterest!), & most importantly– how the eff am I gonna frame these bad boys?
Ding ding ding. Enter Framebridge, aka the company making art & framing a total breeze. Basically, it’s ArtForDummies.com.
Once I decided on my art of choice (shop below, all black & white per usual), I purchased the digital Etsy files & simply uploaded them straight into the Framebridge site. It showed me what it looked like in all their different frames, compared it to a couch for sizing reference, & only took 5 minutes to get everything chosen/purchased/on it’s way.
When my art arrived, it was pretty much Christmas morning. The mounting was perfection, it came with all the nails/hooks needed to get it hung, & I loved the cute branding (major sucker for attention to detail!).
I was thrilled to get these bad boys hung on the wall to surprise Zack & because I didn’t have to worry about finding the right nail, the hanging process took NO time & the end result is so professional.
I was able to finish it all before Zack got home from Target, & he was SO stoked. He couldn’t believe how rad it looked, & considering I am lacking art knowledge in a major way, I was actually a little shocked with the end result myself.
I guess that’s the beauty of art though, you can never do wrong as it’s all in the eye of the beholder. This wall just screams us, & the beautiful frames really added to the whole minimalistic vibe we were going for.
It’s been such a hit with my family as well, that I’ve made the executive decision that everyone’s getting a Framebridge piece this year. I mean, I barely have to lift a finger & I’ve got the whole family covered with a gift that’s creative, unique, & actually something they will be sure to use/love (cause who doesn’t love art?!).
Ahh, that takes a whole lot of stress of my shoulders, & good news– it can take a lot off of yours too because the good people at Framebridge are giving Fashionlush readers a 20% off discount when you enter promo code LUSH20 at checkout.
Is it bad to use my own coupon code? This one is just too good to not take advantage of & I really gotta get started on my holiday orders… plus a few more pieces for the office/living room/bedroom/kitchen. I love gifting the house, she’s so good to us, she deserves more art!
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the gallery wall, & happy framing/getting artsy! x, E
[ p.s. Zack, if you’re reading this, the house reallllly wants a kitchen island & a reclaimed wood coffee table w/ hairpin legs… FYI ]
» make a plan before you start hammering & lay out your art on the floor. «
» make sure you love it. «
» get a second opinion. «
» measure the length of your wall + the length of your entire gallery wall (from widest point to widest point). «
» make pencil marks, & line things up so it’s centered perfectly. «
» straighten out the crooked frames (this took me forever, so OCD!) «
» stare, stare, & stare some more at your masterpiece!! «
