…ONLY because I am still high on the Beyoncé concert & I just wanna talk about it to someone/anyone/everyone.
My Uber driver & I actually got in quite the bonding sesh on the way home while he listened to me rant about how I was now a new woman ( told you, oddly high on Beyoncé ) the entire ride home. Take note, it took us an hour to get home because BEYONCÉ TRAFFIC is a thing & it’s worse than L.A. traffic during rush hour, so yes- Rico, I commend your listening skills. 5 star rating coming your way.
First, let’s rewind to the past couple days leading up to the concert. I’m sorry I fell off the face of the planet for majority of the day yesterday. I decided the night before the concert, at around 10pm, to make shirts. Ya ya, I am cheesy like that. Little did I know, the project was a good 5 hour deal. It ended up being totally worth it because they came out rad ( tutorial coming soon!! ) & we got SO many compliments, but it did a number on my bad back & left me with no time to blog.
I hate missing a day of blogging, & I HATE my back. Let me tell you guys a little about my back cause it’s semi-relevant ( maybe? ). My back is my worst enemy & hurts 24/7. I get acupuncture, medical massages, Chiropractic work, cupping, etc.– all of which definitely help, but only temporarily. I have been in excruciating pain ALL week so I decided to finally make a dreaded doctors appointment, the afternoon before the concert.
A whole lot of x-rays later, I am told I fractured my lowest vertebrae a LONG time ago ( I have had back pain for about 5 years ) & it continues to hurt because it healed incorrectly. Also, to ease the pain, I tend to lean on the left side to take some of that weight off my spine in that spot AND… ready for this… I have minor scoliosis curving to the right side of my body which is the reason behind my recent RIGHT SIDE everywhere pain. COOL effing beans.
Little off topic, happy I found out what it is & plan to fix it ( any tips for low back pain? HELP A SISTER OUT!!! ), but the whole deal made me late to my hair appointment which put a real hitch in my giddy up. Luckily my girl Lisandra was able to get my long ass braids done in no time & I was still able to get home, braid my friends hair ( a new skill I didn’t know I had ), chug some wine, throw on some lashes & pop an Advil ( so I could dance without wincing every three second ).
NOW— can we just take a minute to talk about the show itself?! My cousin lives in Atlanta & once she told me how spectacular it was, I HAD to go. She was so right. If The Formation Tour is on it’s way to your city, buy a ticket now. I swear, you won’t regret it.
She sang 33 songs in total, which according to my concert junkie bestie, that’s pretty much breaking a record of worlds longest concert. Song after song, it just got better & better. Beyoncé got more beautiful each second, & the outfits were GOALS (along with that epic BOOTY). We danced, we laughed, we cried ( yes, shit got emo towards the end ) & we left feeling like our lives were forever changed.
I know, so dramatic & cheesy AF, but real life– Beyoncé is the queen of everything. If you don’t already know this, watch the LEMONADE visual album & get ready to be in an hour long trance of greatness. Creative genius, at it’s finest.
As far as the haters saying it’s all a publicity stunt, here are my thoughts…
Jay Z & Beyoncé are business savvy & they took this whole situation by the balls. They told their truth, they went straight to the bank with it, & the whole world doesn’t despise Jay Z ( even if we’re kinda mad at him, his career will live on after the scandal ). Call it want you want, but I’m gonna go with pretty damn smart. Plus, I don’t see how that wouldn’t be SO cathartic for B.
On an ending note, I haven’t written a post like this is in a while & I really enjoyed it. I used to be a bit more LAX with the blog & share impromptu posts if there was something I felt strongly about, but as things grew, I started to stick to more of a strict content schedule. This was nice, if you made it through the whole post, thanks for reading & HAPPY WKND.
x, Erica
p.s. If you’re planning on going, here is the full set list so you know which order things will play in & when you can take a break to go hit up the merch booth!
I personally like when you do posts like this. I always think its interesting to know a little more about bloggers beyond the typical fashion that is talked about(of course I love that too!). I am not really a Beyonce fan(I know, people always hate me for saying this). Although I do admit that she is super business savvy, an amazing talent, and knows how to put on a good show.
Thanks girl!! & yes- Beyonce is a total girl boss ;) x
UGH… I wish I went. Thanks for sharing!
Aww- next time :) x
