Introducing the babe-a-licious ladies behind the beyond gorgeous clothing line, Stone Cold Fox. When it comes to fashion these ladies sure know what they are talking about. Safe to say, this could be my most fave spotlight thus far, and easily one of my favorite clothing lines. Hands down.
FL: Tell us about yourself.
Cydney Morris: Age: 26, Location: Venice Beach California
Dallas Wand: Age: 26, Location: Venice Beach California
FL: How did you get started in the business of fashion? Tell us your story ladies.
CM + DW: We got started after we both graduated from college and had to move back home. Cydney had a senior collection from graduating in fashion design. We then started a blog, and sold styles as personal orders. We would custom make clothes for our small clientele. Stone Cold Fox soon got into some stores, came out with seasonal lines, and grew from there. We are now in a small amount of stores worldwide, and we also do bridal and home wears. We still do the occasional custom piece, but our twice a year collections is really how we express our fashion.
FL: What is the most important thing you have learned in regards to working in this business? Do you have any tips for people looking to enter the industry?
CM + DW: Well, it’s not always fun. There are a lot of ups and downs, money, business, sales. There is just so much more that goes into running a company than just designing beautiful clothes. We started it just the two of us, and it was a definite challenge but we learned a lot, and taught our selves a lot along the way.
FL: Give us a rundown of what a day in life of a fashion designer(s) is like?
CM: I do the designs, and pattern work and the marketing of the business. Its a lot of creative thinking, and mathematics. Getting fits right, picking out fabrics and laces. And keeping the look and feel of SCF strong.
DW: I run the production of SCF. Working with our cutters and sewers, making sure the fabrics get to them in time so that our stores get the finished product in time. Sourcing fabrics, cutting out personal orders. We both wear many hats and are always running around doing many things!
FL: How would you best describe your line?
CM + DW: It’s a little bit bohemian, its lingerie inspired but wearable in the day. Its ethereal, comfortable, sexy and timeless.
FL: What is your typical go to outfit for a day at work? How about a night out on the town?
CM + DW: We definitely don’t dress up at work, we are working in our warehouse so we are comfortable unless we have fittings or are out sourcing fabrics. If we go out at night we always wear an SCF dress, or SCF top with some cute pants or skirt. We love open toed heals, chunky boots, and large jackets. We don’t try to hard with any look.
FL: What trends do you love for Fall/Winter 2012?
CM + DW: Right now we are loving beanies, leather pants, over-sized jackets, over-sized sweaters, great leather booties, and jean jackets.
FL: How about trends that you find to be cringe-worthy?
CM + DW: Too many colors, clothes that are too tight, the Lita’s, the extreme high-low look, over accessorizing in a bad way.
