I was one of those “lucky” ones (hear me out, not bragging) who never got a speck of acne during puberty. Oh yeaaa, I was totally the envy of all my pimple faced Proactive using friends.
Then I hit my mid-twenties, & boom, acne city. Lucky streak over, at a really awesome time in my life (not). I would’ve way rather been shopping for that Proactive w/ my 13 year old friends at the mall kiosk than dealing with breakouts as an adult… all by my lonesome. Fucking hormones.
(sidebar:: my Dad called me the other day to tell me using the word “shit” in a post was not ladylike. LMFAO!!!)
Anyways, I am proud to say that as of today, I have been acne free for the past month. I feel like I should get some sort of “Acne Anonymous” chip or something, right?! For me, this is a pretty big deal as I was literally about to throw in the towel & just let the acne do it’s thing.
To be completely transparent w/ you guys, there are actually two things that I am contributing to my new clear skin, but one of them I am not sharing JUST yet. I like to give everything a good 2-3 week trial run before sharing on the blog, for authenticities sake. It’s such a major process that I am even considering doing a video on the whole thing, so stay tuned!
In the meantime, the other skincare thing that has been really helping me out is this badass skincare recipe I literally whipped up in the kitchen.
In my search for the adult acne cure, I have become quite the Julia Childs of skincare, making tons of different beauty remedies in the kitchen. I figured, if it’s good for me on the inside, it’s gotta be good for me on the outside. Makes sense, right?
This flaxseed yogurt facial though… it’s def. my favorite to date! Lemme break it down:
» Flaxseeds high level of antioxidants & omega 3 fatty acids (alpha-linoleic acid mainly) help increase the overall health of your skin when consumed & when applied topically.
» Greek yogurt has probiotics (good bacteria) that help to heal acne, prevent signs of aging, & soothe away any redness.
» Cinnamon plumps up your skin by bringing blood to the surface. Sayonara wrinkles & fine lines. You can find another one of my fave DIY cinnamon skincare remedies here.
» Honey has anti-bacterial properties which are total acne killers.
FLAXSEED & CINNAMON FACIAL
» 3-4 tbsp ground flaxseed (found at your local grocery store, typically in the baking section!).
» 1/4 cup greek yogurt
» 1 tsp of honey
» 1 tsp of cinnamon
1. Combine all ingredients
2. Slather on your face, let sit for 10-15 minutes, rinse with warm water!
Consuming all of these ingredients as well has numerous, and I mean NUMEROUS, benefits for your insides. Healthy insides = healthy outside!
I highly suggest you make extra of this concoction, top it with some blueberries (brain food), & eat it all day long.
Personally, it’s my go-to breakfast & dessert! Sometimes I even eat it while I let my mask soak in. Multi-tasking, always.
Try it out & LMK how it works for you. I guarantee you will be team flax mask in no time.

Aww thanks babe <3 x, E
It sounds like this masks smells delicious! I’m going to have to try it out since all of the ingredients are already in the kitchen. Hopefully, it calms the pimple I got on my nose. Go away Rudolph, it ain’t Christmas anymore.
Hahah you just made me LOL with that Rudolph comment. It definitely will help calm that bad boy down :)
Great facial combo! Lately I have been oil pulling my face with coconut oil for 4 minutes and loving the results! I ‘ve had acne forever it’s from a dairy allergy so I do my best to avoid dairy but sometimes it’s difficult to avoid when eating out! Thanks for sharing can’t wait to read about your other concoction! Xo C
Thanks babe! How amazinnnnng is oil pulling?! The best :)
Hey Erica!
Can’t wait to try the facial! I love the Aztec’s Secret clay but, have notice my complexion is pretty dry. The flax facial will be great to alternate with the clay. I agree with Rhea, you are so talented with photography!
Olivia
Thanks Olivia! I love Aztec clay too, but yes, it can be super drying! You will love this mask :) xx, E
