I am always sharing my favorite beauty products & skincare routine on Snapchat & the other day I showed my snappers how I dry cleanse my face. Almost immediately the screenshots started coming in & whole bunch of people requested I do a full post on it.
Your wish, my command.
Dry cleansing is my favorite thing ever, & the most game changing thing I have ever done for my skin.
I started my dry cleansing journey about a year ago w/ Eve Lom, but recently I switched it up thanks to more affordable (& just as amazing, if not more) Glossier Milky Jelly cleanser.
Um, cutest name for a product ever? I think so. Glossier is genius. You also know how obsessed I am with this company + their branding if you follow me on Snapchat. I am always posting about them.
ANYWAYS, back to dry cleansing! First off, what is it? Well, it’s exactly as it sounds- washing your face DRY. No water!!! It’s seriously the key to good skin, & one of the best kept secrets in the beauty circuit.
If you think about it, it totally makes sense- you are using your cleanser in the most concentrated way possible. You wouldn’t water down your shampoo prior to use, so why water down you facial cleanser?
Washing your face this way fully loosens up & gets rid of all that nasty dirt/grime/oil piling up in your pores. It’s a total win for skin.
How To Dry Cleanse:
1. First & foremost you’ve got to choose a cleanser & the only prerequisite for this is picking one that DOES not foam at all (like the Milky Jelly Cleanser, again- it’s stellar).
2. When it’s time to hit the hay & wash your face, just pump that cleanser in your hand & rub it all over (upward motion preferred for a little lymphatic drainage).
3. Run your hands under warm water & repeat the above step to wipe away all the loosened up pore junk off your face.
4. Next, grab a muslin cloth & run it under warm water. Wipe your face clean (the muslin cloth gives your skin a gentle exfoliation) & YOU’RE ALL DONE. Easy peasy, yes? After one wash, you will immediately see the difference.. esp. in the size of your pores!
Lastly, when I am done washing my face I moisturize & then spritz on some of Glossier’s soothing face mist w/ rose water + aloe to lock in moisture & call it a night.
Other noteworthy Glossier products I use on the reg, in case you were wondering:
+ Balm dotcom: I die over this salve & use it on chapped lips, dry cuticles, & rough elbows. I always carry a tube in my purse.
+ Priming moisturizer: This primer is literally everything. It is build-able, moisturizes & plumps my skin SO well, leaves me glowing/dewy, & makes my makeup go on like a charm.
+ mega greens galaxy pack: when my skin is need a little extra love I use this mask packed with greens/antioxidants to detoxify my skin & pull any extra dirt out of my pores.
+ moisturizing moon mask: after the mega greens mask, I always use this moisturizing mask to give my skin some hydration. It smoothes fine lines, plumps my skin, moisturizes majorly (derr), & BRIGHTENS my skin like crazy. Sometimes I even sleep in it for a little extra oomph.
SO– have you guys tried dry cleansing? Will you try it after this post? LMK your thoughts- I am curious to hear what you guys think! OH- and for more beauty tips on-the-go, be sure to follow me on Snapchat (un: fashionlush). x, E
I’ve been dry cleansing for a few years now too and I would never go back to any other way. I find it so much more effective than other methods.
