The amount of concealer I have tried, & tossed, is excessive. Finding a good concealer has been a LIFE LONG struggle for me.
It’s either too thick, too thin, doesn’t last long enough, or just has all around shitty coverage. My makeup vibe is very much done… but not. I don’t like anything too heavy (shoutout to my glass skin post!) & finding a concealer that works but isn’t cakey is a real struggle.
SO…. I reached out to my readers to see if they had any suggestions & there were 3 options that I was seeing repeatedly. I bought all of them to see for myself if they were THAT GOOD as people were saying.
I don’t trust reviews online anymore considering they are either paid for or given in exchange for free product (FYI), so today I am breaking down the top 3 cult favorite concealers honestly (meaning, none of these companies sponsored me!). Cool, now onto the concealers…
CULT FAVORITE CONCEALERS
1. Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape concealer
This was the MOST recommended concealer when I polled my readers, and for good reason. The hype is SO SO SO REAL w/ Shape Tape. I actually just ordered another tube as I type. I ran out of mine & I have noticed BIG TIME.
It is such great coverage, not cakey, and I love the spongey applicator situation. My preferred way to apply concealer. It is versatile enough to use under the eyes & on the face, and has great lasting power.
I usually go for a shade lighter than my skintone so I can also use it to contour. It makes for a great contour along the ridge of the nose & cheekbones!
2. Benefit Boing Industrial Strength concealer
This concealer comes in a small pot, which for me, is a con. It doesn’t work well with my beauty blender & I don’t like the idea of using a tiny brush to apply my concealer. If you don’t mind using a brush, this is a really great concealer.
I mainly use this one to cover up serious blemishes. It is heavy duty coverage so you gotta go light with it or else it will look cakey. It lasts ALL day long though which is a huge bonus for me. I hate a concealer that fades throughout the day. Again, it’s a good back up, but I reach for my Shape Tape more.
3. IT COSMETICS Bye Bye Under Eye concealer
Save the best for last, cause I loveeee everything It Cosmetics. It is the one product worthy of being on automatic refill cause you will 100% rebuy it over & over again. The IT COSMETICS Bye Bye Under Eye concealer is my all time favorite undereye concealer. The undereye area is tricky, you need good coverage, but because the skin is too thin you don’t want anything too heavy. This under eye concealer not only FULLY covers by genetic circles (SO DARK), but also goes on sooo smooth. It’s like a dewy cc cream, but with the power to cover up the darkest of circle. A real miracle worker.
One note- is you need to set this concealer with a translucent power to make it LAST. Because it is more on the moisturizing side (feels like it’s mixed with an oil!), it can slip throughout the day. The powder set is a must.
Also, I am obsessed w/ the Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream & Superhero Mascara by It Cosmetics. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
