This & That: Anti-Resolutions

grass-quote

I am totally 100% anti-resolutions.

The whole process, IMO, seems very counter-productive. The idea is to promote self-growth in the new year, but when you break that resolution (which you 100% will, sorry but true), you just end up feeling like a sad sack/failure at life. Where’s the growth in that?

The last resolution I actually ever made was to never make another resolution again, & it was the only one that ever stuck.

It’s not that I don’t have a lot of bad habits that need to be worked on (I drink way too much gingerale, watch an disgusting amount of horrendous reality TV, & have some minor OCD tendencies), but I just know that for me, the last thing I need is another list to hold me prisoner.

Instead I prefer to start off my year like I do my yoga class, with a good intention. This year, my intention was/is to simply focus fully on my own grass rather than worrying about everyone else’s (see above quote). Simple, realistic, & doable.

If you’ve already written our your long ass scroll of resolutions, I highly suggest you crumple it up (throw in the fire if you have one) & free yourself from that list stat! Start the year stress free & with good vibes.

  1. I like how you keep it real! Couldn’t agree more with how resolutions are made just to be broken. I’d like to share a quote that goes in line with your blog post –

“Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual. Yesterday, everybody smoked his last cigar, took his last drink, and swore his last oath. Today, we are a pious and exemplary community. Thirty days from now, we shall have cast our reformation to the winds and gone to cutting our ancient shortcomings considerably shorter than ever. We shall also reflect pleasantly upon how we did the same old thing last year about this time. However, go in, community. New Year’s is a harmless annual institution, of no particular use to anybody save as a scapegoat for promiscuous drunks, and friendly calls, and humbug resolutions, and we wish you to enjoy it with a looseness suited to the greatness of the occasion.”

Cheers and best of luck for the year ahead! xxoo Sabina

  2. The wild Rose mask looks amazing. I am definitely going to try that out. I just bought the Peter Thomas Roth pumpkin enzyme mask from Sephora and it is pretty awesome too.

    1. It is so amazing! I have the pumpkin enzyme mask from Eminence which is also very yummy! That whole line (Eminence) is worth checking out :) xx
