OKAY- so this is just gonna be kind of a random/rant post… but much needed for my own sanity (writing it out always helps me) & just to let you guys know what the eff is happening in my life right now cause within the past month shit has really gone from 0-60 & we are ADULTING AF over here.
SO, you all know, we got engaged… & \ for the first week minutes I was fully on board to plan a wedding. Then I got overwhelmed af & decided to move onto a new project, LET’S LOOK FOR A HOUSE TO BUY!
(oh, & we should also mentioned… we rescued a dog. I feel like I need to do a post on this story soon!)
I just love to bite off more than I can true, & I don’t know how it is for other people looking to buy a home, but it just went from something we spoke about, to looking at houses, & now to being in ESCROW! It was quick & the bidding on the house got super competitive so I guess I just didn’t feel like this was actually happening until I realized…
THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING!!!
I plan to do a full post on the house buying process, but we’re still in escrow, so I will just give some brief details until things are final FINAL (although, they are def final IMO).
About a month ago we started seriously looking at house. My mom is a retired realtor, so we were working with the realtor she refers out to (shout out to Patricia Smith, our stellar realtor!).
We were mainly looking in the city of La Mesa which is about 10 minutes from where we live now. It’s an area of town where you can get more for your $$$ & the particular area we were looking at is currently on the up & up. We really wanted a good investment property as we know our first home won’t be our forever home…
but it’s me, so naturally, i was PICKY AF…
A few requests of mine: FIRST OF ALL… it had to look pretty GOOD on the inside & outside since we just don’t want to do a full remodel… mainly because I am a legit psycho & shit would get out of hand. I’d personally prefer to just work on more aesthetic stuff like light fixtures, paint, knew knobs, landscaping, etc. I also wanted a good backyard, preferably be painted white with black trim on the outside, good floors (although they will probably replaced for concrete regardless), a seperate garage, three bedrooms, two baths, good light, & most importantly- A SMART MOVE.
Right off the bat we found off a place that ticked off a lot of our boxes. We went to go look at it & this particular neighborhood just wasn’t one that was predicted to increase in value, so we moved on quickly. This house had to be perfect & an GOOD investment!!! A few days later we found this SUPER cute little white house with black trim in our price range, in our neighborhood, & we did a drive by about an hour later. When we got to the house, a couple was doing a walk through with their realtor, so we left & when I got home to check the house it said “sale pending”.
The next day though, I was still thinking about this house, so I went to the site & the “sale pending” was taken down. We immediately went to see it & were obsessed as soon as we pulled up & even more so once inside. It was perfect for us- three bedroom, two bath, white with black trim (!!!), huge seperate garage, ginormous lawn, already looking pretty damn good, in our price range, & a really really really good investment.
We called to put in an offer & were told they already had 3 other offers & that they will take the over but won’t be accepting till Monday. Our offer was AGGRESIVE af, but by the time Monday rolled around ours was one of 7!!! I was stressing, but the competition was fun & definitely made us want the house that much more. When we got the call that night that out of all those offers, they accepted ours, I was SHOCKED. Even after our offer was accepted another realtor came through begging them to cancel our offer, but they wouldn’t.
THE WHOLE THING WAS ALL SO EXHILARATING… & we are now currently in escrow!
*SIDENOTE: I will go into more detail into our offer when we are through with escrow, just to not jinx anything, but that will be a thorough post on how we did our offer in such a COMPETITIVE situation.*

SO NOW THAT YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON, you can imagine, shit is stressful & a wedding just isn’t the forefront of my mind right now. The wedding plans are *slightly* on hold while we focus on getting into this house & I am JUST fine with that.
Shit, we’ve been together 6 years, I am in no rush right now. Also, we ideally want to get married in Spring/Summer so that would mean we have to be planning right this minute & that’s just not gonna work. We will be leaving town end of month, while going through escrow, & somehow have to manager getting a few things fixed/the house painted while out of town & THEN when we get home we have 5 days to pack up & move.
Shit is about to get real crazy & I am so excited/nervous/happy & can’t wait to bring you guys along for this crazy ass ride (filled with SO MUCH CONTENT!! lol!!). Okay, that’s it, this girl needs a joint & a bath asap.
