DIY Air Plant Wall Art

Slowly but surely, the house is really starting to come together. I know I am lagging on the complete home tour post I promised, & some of you have even called me out for it, but I swear it’s on the radar. I am a perfectionist, so I can’t share till I feel everything is just how I want it.

You have seen various sneak peeks of the place, so you probably noticed we’ve got a pretty strong black & white vibe going on. I love the minimalistic feel of monochromatic decor, but as my interior designer cousin has always told me, you always need ONE pop of color or else things get super boring overtime.

This one was tough for me as there was no way I could handle a colorful throw pillow or bright ass rug. Not my style, not Zack’s either.

SO, for our pop of color, we decided on green… but only in the form of plants. We LOVE our plants & every time we go to the nursery or farmers market, we always pick up a new one. Our latest plant purchase was four really adorable (can plants be cute?) air plants.

Air plants are my favorite because, unlike Zack who actually speaks to our plants (strange AF), I have a black thumb & air plants are a total no brainer. Just a spritz of water or a soak, once a week, & you’re good to go.

To display our new air plants, we headed to the hardware store & grabbed some supplies to make our own custom DIY display for the Tillandsia’s. Not only does it store the plants perfectly, but also doubles as some really rad wall art.

This weekend we will actually be whipping of a few more for our current design project– the patio (which I am really excited about & can’t WAIT to show you guys!).

Check out all the how-to deets below & happy FriYAY. x, E

DIY Air Plant Wall Art

» copper pipes, found at the hardware store

» foot long piece of wood, also at the hardware store (they will cut this for you!)

» flat black spray paint

» E600 glue

» air plants

» sawtooth wall hangers

1. spray paint your wood piece. I personally think flat black looks best, but you can obviously choose any color you like.

2. using a measuring tape, evenly space out your copper pipes. Once laid out how you like, glue them onto the wooden board. Let dry.

3. nail in a sawtooth wall hanger on the back, hang on the wall, & place your air plants.
