I thought of all the ways I could do a post summing up my year & a video just seemed like the best option. I am not quite sure how I crammed a year into 3 minutes, but I did & this video got me all up in my feels.
2019 was magical. It was a HUGE year of growth for me & there were so many major life events that, in most cases, would cause me to have anxiety (change = panic)… and although I had my moments, I can honestly say- this year was a year for the books and the perfect way to close out the decade.
We had lots of laughs, a handful of tears, we went through hardships, we got found a stray dog we fell in love, we spent time with family, we GOT ENGAGED!!, we bought a house, we went to Miami, my life dream of holding a monkey came true, we loved on my nephew who is my families center of gravity at this point, Fashionkush launched, Zack got his dream job, my best friend had a baby, my other best friend is about to have a baby, we are planning our dream wedding in Copenhagen… I could go on & on & on about all the amazing things that went down, but looking back I can say- I am proud.
I am proud of me.
I am proud of us.
I am proud of everyone around me.
I am proud of the life we have built.
…. & I am so damn excited for 2020!! It’s a new decade, a new start, & I can’t even begin to imagine all the things to come in our future, but I am SO looking forward to it. I am also very grateful for all of you. I never in 1000 years imagined I would have so many friends on the internet who support me and love me for who I am. The fact I get the chance to inspire people to own who they are, flaws and all, is an honor that words can’t explain.
OKAY, that is enough emo Erica for the day. Let’s spend a few seconds talking resolutions. I don’t do them. I have always felt it’s just too much pressure going into a fresh new year, but I do make very loose notes of a few places I’d like to improve at some point in the year & here they are:
MY NON-RESOLUTIONS (AKA JUST SOME GOALS) FOR 2020
1. work on my sleep schedule:
YEA. This one is on the list every year. I didn’t get much better in 2019, but maybe 2020? We will see. I might just have a weird circadian rhythm that I was born with & I always figure when we have kids I’ll be forced to fix my sleep schedule… but still always down to try.
2. don’t become a bridezilla:
hasn’t happened yet, but every bride seems to get a little crazy closer to the big day so I am striving to just keep my chill throughout this process so that we can both fully enjoy it.
3. keep working out & try to eat healthier:
just a reminder to myself to not fall off the workout wagon for the wedding. I hate working out and will do anything to get out of it so I am telling myself now- you wanna look fly in that wedding dress? Keep it up & add some veggies to your diet sis. NO MORE BAGELS & BURRITOS…. jk, always bagels & burritos… but maybe just a few less of them.
4. quality time > phone time:
I am getting better at this, but always a work in progress. Social media is my job & that phone is glued to my hand. I want more moments of stillness without the phone, without the apps, without the potential radiation going to my brain (thanks mom for the radiation phone sticker though lol).
5. adventure more:
this past year, since we are now homeowners and Zack works full time, we didn’t get to travel as much as we used to. I am hoping in 2020 we can travel and explore more. Even if it it’s just small road trips. That is something that Zack really loves, so I want to make sure he gets some adventures in before we…ya know… start a family :).
6. finish our house & backyard:
of course- we gotta finish that backyard before summer hits! We are putting in a skate ramp and want our house to be the fun summer hang out zone. We work on the house daily, but I am hoping at some point in 2020 we will be actually fully done. We will see, I change my mind a lot, so who knows if we will ever get there 100%… but it’s a goal to get close!
7. make Fashionkush the most badass & CHIC cannabis company out there:
enough said there, it’s happening & it’s gonna be LIT! Fashionkush 2020, let’s go.
8. prove I am not too old for TikTok:
haha! Just throwing this one in there because I am determined to master the TikTok game. Move over Instagram, TikTok is where it’s at for the new year. It is SO fun & honestly- less pressure than Instagram so I am enjoying it. It really is helping get the creative juices flowing. You can check me out on TikTok here ;).
9. potentially get Howard trained to visit hospitals:
not sure he’d be the dream candidate cause sometimes he barks when he sees other dogs, but he is the sweetest most loving/cuddly dogs who loves to give hugs so this is something I would love to do. I think he would bring so much joy to people & I want to share the magic that is Howard with others in need. You’d have to meet him in person to get it, but he is a wonderful little dude.
10. be a good human
a gentle reminder that, at the end of the day, the best feeling in the world is to just be a good person. Respect others. Tell your loved ones what they mean to you. Give to charity. Help someone in need. Give a stranger a compliment. You don’t know what other people are struggling with, so be sensitive when you can & try to put yourself in others shoes.
